“Woolworths is not breed specific - we rely on MSA grading to grade our cattle.” – Sam Ditchfield, Woolworths

A key takeaway from last week’s Herefords Australia Breed Forum in Wodonga was the strong message that performance and eating quality matter most in today’s beef supply chain.

Thank you to Sam Ditchfield from Woolworths for sharing valuable insights into Woolworths’ beef sourcing programs and reinforcing the important role Hereford cattle play in grass-fed supply chains.

It was encouraging to hear recognition that Herefords consistently meet grading specifications and perform strongly within MSA programs alongside all major breeds.

We appreciate Sam taking the time to speak with producers and contribute to an informative and engaging forum.

The supermarket says MSA grading is its only focus when buying beef.

2026 Female Inventory Lists (for females over two years of age) were emailed to applicable members on 30 January 2026.

Please take the time to review your list and advise Herefords Australia of any changes - including females that have been sold or deceased - by Sunday 31 May 2026.
