Locals to Armidale - The Meating Place Armidale has some of our delicious Wagyu!

This Wagyu is coming out of Gara River, just 15kms down the road, run by Lach and Liz Rogers and their family.

They’ve built their herd on strong Wagyu bulls, which is where you get that quality and consistency coming through.

But more than that, it’s just good people doing things properly. Small team, family-run, focused on producing beef they’re proud of.

We’re pretty lucky to have access to it here in Armidale, because stuff like this doesn’t usually stay local for long.

🐄 The Next Generation of Wagyu Excellence 🧬✨

There’s something truly special about seeing the next generation — both of our Wagyu genetics and our family — so invested in the future of breeding!

🌧️ A Bit of Rain Makes All the Difference 🌱

We’ve had some beautiful rain lately — and you can just feel the soil come alive again. In regenerative farming, every drop matters. Healthy soil holds more water, grows stronger plants, and even helps store carbon back in the ground.

It’s a great reminder that when we look after the soil, it looks after us. 💚

🌾 Healthy Soil, Healthy Stock — It’s All Connected 🌱

We’ve been doing Soil Microbiometre Testing for a few years now, and it’s been great to actually see the changes happening in our soil. The photo below shows our latest results - proof that all the effort we’ve been putting into looking after our soil is paying off. 🙌

When we started focusing on building soil biology, we noticed the difference pretty quickly:
🌿 The pastures became more resilient and nutrient-rich
🐄 The animals looked healthier and performed better
🌧️ And the ground just seemed to handle the seasons better overall

It’s amazing how much life is in the soil when you start looking for it. Watching those numbers climb each year has been really rewarding — a reminder that looking after the soil is one of the best investments we can make in the farm’s future.

Healthy soil → healthy plants → healthy animals 💚

🌱 Feeding the Soil, from the Air! 🌱

Here’s a glimpse of the recent aerial application at Karuah! We spread liquid compost, fish emulsion, and molasses across our pastures to feed the soil microbes that keep our land healthy.

Aerial spreading lets us cover large areas efficiently especially over rough terrain. Healthy microbes improve soil structure, cycle nutrients, and capture carbon — building resilient land that grows stronger pastures.

And the best part? Healthier soils and pastures lead to healthier, more nutritious beef — from the ground, to your plate. 🌿🐂🥩

🌱 Gara River Agriculture Carbon Project Update 🌱

Back in 2021, we registered our properties Karuah and Gara Gunyah in a carbon project and completed our baseline soil testing. Since then, we’ve been transforming the way we manage our land to restore soil health, increase biodiversity, and capture carbon.

Here’s what we’ve been up to:
✅ Implementing cell grazing to improve pasture growth and soil resilience
✅ Balancing soils with Gypsum, Soft Rock Phosphate, fish emulsion, biological foliars, humic and fulvic acid, worm castings and liquid compost
✅ Introducing more diverse pastures for year round growth, including deep rooted perennials & legumes and herbage with long tap roots to improve soil structure and water infiltration

We’re excited to be approaching our T1 testing in 2026, to see how these changes have impacted our soil carbon levels. Every small step helps our soils, our cattle, and our planet.

🌿 Regenerating land, one pasture at a time.

U15 was born as a result of an ET program where we were breeding High Grade Wagyu bulls for our Commercial Angus Herd. Both he and his full brother were standout types in the U drop and we soon realised when the calves were registered that this bull had a lot more to offer the industry at a Seedstock level rather than remaining in our Commercial herd. With an amazing combination of growth and carcase EBV’s, this bull has the potential to lift performance and improve carcase traits in Seedstock herds. Used successfully in our commercial Angus herd as a yearling he is a proven bull with a lot to offer the Wagyu Breed.

His sire Arubial United P0342 has produced powerful calves that have taken the Wagyu type to another level.
His dam Doorkey Q0127 is a proven performer in the Doorkey herd. She is a moderate framed easy doing cow with 12 registered progeny who are consistently high for all growth and carcase attributes.
