This are the bones of an honoured Grimwood ancestor embedded alchemically into living stone, which distorts the shape of the skeleton over centuries as it grows.
This material, known as bone marble, is used to fortify the walls of sacred buildings, to craft the weaponry of the Grimwood Rangers, and to honour the fallen.
