Fremantle, let’s do this! 🍷🍺
The Urban Wine Walk is back on Saturday, 9th May, and we’re teaming up with the legends at Calamity’s Rod for an arvo of vino & fun!

For those who don’t know Calamity’s Rod – they’re Fremantle’s nano‑brewery tucked into the heart of the West End, crafting quality beers in shipping containers (yes, really…) with a courtyard bar that’s all good vibes. Twin brothers Dan and Geoff Goddard are the guys behind the kegs, pouring everything from classics to experimental batches that keep people frothing over what’s on tap.

🍷 The Vino – Subsea Estate is bringing our ocean‑crafted wines to Calamity’s maritime‑spirited venue for an epic afternoon. Sip through the range and compare the “seasons of the sea” to discover what the wild ocean swells have created. Wine aged 20 metres below the surface, beer brewed with passion and mad‑scientist precision – what more could you want?

VERSE OF VOYAGE
Every voyage follows a rhythm—the measured cadence of tide and time
The metre of motion that guides transformation

Verse is structure with soul  Pattern with purpose
Words written with intention
Creating meaning through their sequence and flow

A voyage is the same
Not chaos, but choreographed movement Each phase builds on the last, creating narrative through progression

Wine holds this same poetry  The rhythm of seasons dictates growth
The metronome of fermentation marks time
 A line in a larger poem being written—from bud break to harvest
from grape to liquid, from stillness to constant motion

Some verses are written on land…
Others venture where the rhythm shifts
In the space between established verse and uncharted composition

It’s here that wine becomes something more The voyage creates the verse  The verse captures the voyage  And somewhere in that circular truth

Here’s something most winemakers don’t do with red wine… but we do. 🍷

Extended lees stirring is common in white wines—think Chardonnay with that creamy, textured mouthfeel. But in reds? That’s rare.

Why? Traditional red winemaking focuses on tannin structure, deep colour, and fresh fruit aromatics. The creamy, rounded texture you get from heavy lees stirring isn’t usually the goal—many worry it might soften the structure or mute vibrant fruit.

But here’s what we discovered underwater: it doesn’t. 🙌🏻

🌊 Our red wines spend months beneath the surface, where natural swells and currents—both wild and mild—keep the lees in constant motion throughout fermentation 24/7!

💫 The wines emerge with both power and elegance—structure and silkiness unified.
🍇 The colour brightens, and fruit vibrancy enhances.

Stirred by nature…not by hand.
Difference is just as beautiful as the familiar—often more so—because it excites us, expands us, and gifts us new experiences.
