Here's a little baking tip.
If you put some leaves in the bottom of your baking tin the flavour will go through your cake.
This has lemon verbena.
Sometimes I put mint in the bottom of chocolate cakes, or rose geranium, lemon myrtle, lemon balm, basil.
No artificial flowers needed.

The weather is cooling and the peak of stone fruits is leaving us. But that means pears, and I get to make this cake. Spiced Pear Love Cake, with pears poached in saffron, cinnamon, Vanilla, pepper, cardamom it is a favourite especially with the gluten free folk.
