The Autumn edition of the -academy Equine Internship Program wrapped up on Friday at , led by the Southern Highlands’ very own ‘horse whisperer’, Greg Bennett 🐴

In their final week of the six-week program, students put their 🧑‍💻theory into practice through hands-on training, practical assessments, and real-world experience around horses.

Throughout the Program, interns have developed skills in:
✔️Horse handling & safety
✔️Grooming & daily care
✔️Confidence working around horses
✔️Communication & teamwork
✔️Exploring career pathways within the industry

A huge thank you to all facilitators involved for sharing their knowledge, experience, and passion with the next generation! We can’t wait to see where this Program leads these students in their career choices👌

There’s something pretty special about being there when a foal takes its very first breath.

Silverdale Farm is looking for Night Watch team members to join us for the upcoming foaling season in the Southern Highlands. From late July through peak season, you’ll play a hands-on role caring for pregnant mares and newborn foals across overnight rostered shifts.

This is more than just a job. It’s an opportunity to be part of the very beginning of a racehorse’s story - watching foals enter the world, take their first steps, and caring for them through those quiet overnight hours alongside a fantastic team.

Perfect for school leavers, parents, university students, or anyone looking for part-time seasonal work and extra income, while gaining incredible experience in the thoroughbred industry.

Your role will include:
✨ Monitoring pregnant and post-foaled mares
✨ Caring for newborn foals
✨ Recording vitals and preparing feeds
✨ Administering medications as required
✨ Working independently and as part of a close-knit team

Prior horse handling experience will be highly regarded.

Trainees will join the Silverdale Academy TAFE program, working towards a horticulture qualification. Part-time opportunities are also available for experienced applicants.
