Pink King Protea - I am sure these things get bigger each year.
This one weights 700g - there are another 9 on the bush. No idea how they will develop.
I don’t have a vase big enough that will carry the weight.
New vase needed I think………..

I found this King Protea curled under another branch. Sort of opened a couple of days ago.
Missed this one.
Will get some greenery and add these wax flowers - should look nice I think.

These Blood Red Oranges were gifted by a neighbour. They will be added to the oranges from my tree to make Blood Red Orange Marmalade.

Blood Red Oranges are a natural accidental mutation of standard sweet oranges that appeared in the 17th century in Southern Italy and Sicily.

The dark color comes from natural compounds called anthocyanins - antioxidants. The same pigment makes blueberries and raspberries look red or blue.
The color develops when the fruit grows in areas with cool night temperatures and warmer days.

🧅 🧅 🧅 Doing a road trip to pick up Pickling Onions. Stopped off at Midway Farmstall for coffee and of course a steak pie - usually don’t eat pies but these are very local and on the farm. Supporting local of course.

🧅 While there I usually walk around looking at and talking to the animals - as you do.
Long horn cows, camel, resident pig, farm dog and vintage Massey Ferguson tractor. Memories of my Dads old tractor’s.

🧅 Now on to pick up onions and stop off at The Crooked Carrot on my way back - hopefully I will miss the school pickup time.

🍑 🍑 🍑 Madly fertilising and mulching my stone fruit trees. Plus mowing - lots of mowing. Looking very pretty.

🍑 The first stone fruit tree is in flower - early Peach. Plum & Apricot to come. Unfortunately I had to pull out the Nectarine trees. Will be replanting soon.

🍑 I get quite excited at this time of year. New start with fruit coming in a couple of months. Then it’s on - preserving, jam, chutney etc.
