Balala Station revealed as the site for the 2025 Australian Soil Judging Competition

Soil Science Australia is pleased to announce that the 2025 Australian Soil Judging Competition will be hosted at Balala Station near Uralla, NSW.

Balala Station is well recognised for its commitment to regenerative agriculture and soil stewardship. The property integrates rotational grazing, ecological restoration and long-term soil monitoring, offering competitors a rare opportunity to work directly with soils shaped by decades of evidence-based management.

We’re grateful to property managers Richard Daugherty and Sarah Burrows for hosting this year’s competition.

Natural Capital - this is an exciting time in a space which is moving very fast. But for it to work there are many interesting problems to solve and systemic change needs to happen across the spectrum of our industry.
Discussions needs to take place and hopefully this is one such event. Join in with the panel of speakers to begin this conversation. Its a privilege in being able to facilitate this discussion. Hope to see you on June 13th.

We're pretty excited about our line up of panelists who will be part of the conversation at the AHMC field day hosted by Balala Station on 13 JUNE. They include Sara Schmude from Impact Ag - as well as Emma from The Woolmark Company, Eamon from Fox & Lillie Rural, Mark from Farming for the Future and Brett Smith, wool grower and Elders district wool manager. Sara will be talking about the Australian Holistic Management Co-op's Ecological Outcome Verification program. And the panel will be exploring the value of Natural Capital for Family Farms.

🎉 The UNE SMART Region Incubator (SRI) marked its two-year milestone at NOVA, showcasing Faces of Back Stories 2023.
