What a fantastic Stanthorpe Apple and Grape Harvest Festival!
Congratulations to all the local volunteers who once again have put on an incredible festival.👍👍
Michelle and I had a great weekend at the Food and Wine Fiesta in the park - everyone we met was loving the excellent food and wine and music! 🍷🍕🎸
It was also lovely to have some family home for the weekend - who stepped in behind the bar to help out in the busy times - thanks Rob and Lauren!

See you at the Apple and Grape Festival this weekend!
Twisted Gum Wines will have a stand in the park again this year. Lots of fantastic local wine and food and music all weekend!

2.2 tonnes of beautiful ripe Grenache picked at Twisted Gum Wines!
Our last pick of the season - and all before the end of February!
Unbelievable short and fast vintage this year. We usually finish picking in late March or sometimes early April - but never in February!
But very nice to finish on a high note - this Grenache looks amazing! 🍇🍇

Shiraz and Cabernet both picked at Twisted Gum Wines in a single week!
All a full month earlier than "normal" - thanks to this unusually hot and dry summer this year!.
It has been a crazy busy week - we hand picked our Shiraz on Monday, crushed Shiraz Tuesday, started plunging it Wednesday, hand picked our Cabernet Thursday and then crushed it on Friday and now plunging 4 fermenters morning and night - sore back and arms but great to have such beautiful fruit safely in the winery!🍇🍇
Also great to have Rob home to do some of the plunging to give his old man a rest! 👍

On today (Sunday 22 Feb) at Twisted Gum Wines from 2-4pm.
GBSAN is hosting an EV "Show and Shine".
Come and see 14 EVs and chat with their owners re their experiences in owning an EV in a rural area.
Michelle and I will be "showing" our 2022 Tesla Model Y - no "shine" though since we have only given our car one wash in 4 years 😂

EV event this coming Sunday 2-4pm at Twisted Gum Wines, Eukey Road, Ballandean. Free entry!

14 electric cars, 6 electric bikes and various other electric vehicles.

Come along and chat to rural EV owners about their experiences.

Hello Chardonnay!
Another cool early morning pick at Twisted Gum Wines this week. The first bin of Chardonnay was off before 7am!
Beautiful small ripe bunches with subtle flavours of honey dew melon and citrus - yum.
Great to have our son Rob home for a few months to help out with picking before he heads off to Europe to work at the OECD in Paris for a year or so. I heard that they might have some good food and wine over there! 🥐🥖🍷

So what do Michelle and I do at 9.30am on a Saturday morning? Taste wine of course!
Our son Rob was so surprised he snapped this photo. 😂
This weekend we released two new wines onto our cellar door tasting list - so naturally we had to do some "quality control" 🍷🍷

This 2024 Shiraz is a classic cool climate Shiraz - featuring ripe black cherries, a touch of pepper spice and silky smooth tannins - wow!

And the 2025 Chardonnay is a winner as well - impressive citrus and melon flavours with fresh acidity producing a lovely clean finish - I am definitely thinking pan-fried Barramundi... 🐟🐟

Another week - another grape harvest at Twisted Gum Wines!
This week it was time for Black Muscat - how good do those bunches look?!
As always, all grapes picked by hand in the cool of the morning.
We picked on Monday - then crushed on Tuesday - then juice was chilled and settled on Wednesday & Thursday - then racked off solids on Friday ready for yeast addition Sunday - busy, busy!!
The juice tastes amazing this year - our Pink Moscato fans are going to be very happy! 🍷🍷

And Vintage 2026 is off and running at Twisted Gum Wines!
We hand picked the Semillon on Tuesday morning and then hand picked the Verdelho on Wednesday morning and then crushed them both on Thursday - busy, busy!!
This is an early start to harvest again this year but the fruit is lovely and ripe and tastes amazing, with perfect sugar and acid stats of 12.5 Be and 3.26 pH. 🥂👍

A belated Happy New Year to you all!
Michelle and I had a wonderful festive season with rolling visits from lots of family and friends over the past 4 weeks. It is the very best thing about having 2 houses on our vineyard - we have plenty of space for visitors!
The vineyard is looking great at the moment - we have all the bird nets on now (thanks for your help Lauren!) - and the fruit is ripening up nicely.
