This was the first event I held at the Garage.

Family Christmas, 2022.

Sadly, it’s the last photo taken of my family in its entirety.

Dad, sitting front and centre, who in his day was the most charming man you’ve ever met, passed away the following year.

Although he never got to see the business of Common Garage up and running, I’ll always cherish the fact Dad got to spend one Christmas here and see the place for himself.

You’re on my mind and in my heart every day, Dad.

Love you and miss you, Gazza.

Starting with Playing With Fire.

FRIDAY NIGHT | 4–8PM
Playing With Fire are back with wood-fired pizza and the start of the weekend, and they’re quickly becoming part of the furniture around here.

SATURDAY | 11AM–2PM
Fresh Baked By Josh brings in Saturday brunch.
Fresh out of the oven, with both sweet and savoury, and well worth getting here early for because Josh is generally a sellout!

Then Saturday night... SEÑOR BBQ IS BACK!

Señor BBQ with Loco Tacos
The grill is getting fired up, Señor BBQ is putting on a show, and Loco Tacos are joining the party - now with Nachos and Tacos!

Latin flavours and more than one very good reason to make a Saturday night of it.

Spring might have only just arrived, and the Garage is only starting to heat up.

Shout out of congratulations and gratitude for this remarkable human, as Mrs Browne Bakes celebrates 10 years in business!

A decade of trade is no small feat for any family business - and you’ve done it in style, going from strength to strength.

Not a Wednesday goes by that I’m not filled with gratitude you’ve chosen Common Garage your home! Apparently, it’s been the wettest winter in Ballarat since you’ve been in business - yet people flock here on a Wednesday to get their hands on your sweet treats - and I understand why… they like you (and your team) are nothing short of a phenomenon!

Looking for something better than another pair of socks for Father’s Day?

Tomorrow, Craig Holloway is back at the Garage.

Craig is a local Ballarat photographer who has a knack for capturing our beautiful country city in a way that makes you stop and look twice. Last week, he brought along his collection of Ballarat imagery and jigsaw puzzles — and we liked it enough to ask him back.

And with Father’s Day this weekend, we reckon he might have accidentally brought along one of the better gifts going around.

Beautiful Ballarat photography. Jigsaw puzzles. Books. Ceramic coasters. Something local, something different, and something you can actually keep.

And while your waiting to grab a sweet treat from Mrs Browne Bakes, a Hot Didely Dogs hot dog, and a coffee while you wander through Craig’s collection.

Tomorrow at the Garage 1.30 - 6pm.

Come down, have a look, and find something Dad will actually want — and you can play with together.

It’s the first day of Spring.

The warmer months are upon us and after a winter spent outside, Jimmy is excited to thaw out! So this weekend, we are bringing the fire.

But after the first winter that Common Garage has been open - WOW - there’s a lot to be grateful for!

Winter was always going to be an interesting one at the Garage. A lot of nah sayers said it wouldn’t work… Yet, although we’re still finding our feet, still building what the Garage is going to become, I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better response and we’re only getting started.

The support, the familiar locals, the new faces and the people who keep coming back have made the last few months something special.

Now it’s Spring.

And we’re looking ahead to what the next few months might bring, with some new activations taking shape behind the scenes. There’s a lot happening, and some exciting things on the way.

But for now... what’s on this week...

Craig Holloway is back with his expert photography of Ballarat and surrounds.

And if you’re looking for something a little different for Dad this Father’s Day, Craig’s jigsaw puzzles make a great gift.

Playing With Fire are starting to make the Garage their home away from home — and we’re very happy about that.
Friday night is pizza night.

Josh is back Saturday morning, bringing the fresh baking to the Garage.
Sweet, savory and fresh out of the oven, made properly and well worth getting out of bed for.

SENOR BBQ is back, with Loco Tacos

Senor BBQ who always puts on a show is back this Saturday night, firing up the grill alongside Loco Tacos.

The Garage is open Wednesday to Saturday from 9am, with a quick break between sessions.

And the last weekend of PIE MONTH.

So we’re finishing winter properly.

We’re getting in front of Spring — by serving gelato! Because quite frankly, we’ve waited long enough.

But before we get too carried away with that, Saturday brings something pretty bloody special.

Flying Chillies Bakehouse is back with their Brilliantly Unexpected Pie — the award-winning pie that has been turning heads, winning prizes and turning local beards purple.

This is your last chance to get your hands on it during Pie Month at the Garage.
