WEEKEND ROSTER UPDATE
A few late changes to this weekend’s lineup at Common Garage, and we’ve got some good ones to get excited about!

FRIDAY | 4PM–8PM
Smoke on the Weir is now teaming up with Sweet As El this Friday! Two food vendors bringing the goods to kick off your weekend. Get down, grab some dinner and settle in for a Friday night at the Garage.

SATURDAY | 11AM–2PM
Flying Chillies Bakehouse is taking over the lunchtime session! From BRILLIANTLY UNEXPECTED pies and instagrammable sweets and baked goods, right through to Malaysian noodles, Lilly and the Chillies always deliver an amazing brunch.

SATURDAY | 4PM–8PM
PLAYING WITH FIRE IS BACK!
These guys have become a corner favourite, and we’re excited to have them firing up the Garage again this Saturday night. If you’ve been before, you know what’s coming. If you haven’t, now’s the time to get down and find out what everyone’s talking about!

Sadly, Sticky Fingers BBQ won’t be joining us this Saturday, but we reckon you’ll be pretty well fed because across EVERY SESSION, Alice the trailer will be serving up our loaded hot dogs!

Open and serving coffee from 9am Friday and Saturday with a break in between sessions.

What’s on at Common Garage this week...

Open from 9am Wednesday to Saturday, with a good mix of local food and plenty of reasons to drop by.

Wednesday mornings have become one for the Commoner’s - a little community of friendly people who gather on this corner every week. Generally speaking, its become a great time to meet new people and have a friendly chat with some neighbours or some strangers - it’s become the highlight of my week... it’s the little things...

Of course on Wednesday, Mrs Browne Bakes makes this corner her home away from home, from 2–6pm. Loaded Common Hot Dogs will be available too! These tasty hot dogs are now always on in the afternoons and evenings when we’re open.

It’s a BBQ kinda weekend at the Garage, with Smoke on the Weir taking the reins from 4–8pm, with Loaded Common Dogs ready to go also...

Saturday brings two sessions. Flying Chillies Bakehouse is back from 11am–2pm.

Then Sticky Fingers BBQ, a new favourite, joins us from 4–8pm, alongside Loaded Common Hot Dogs too.

Did I mention Loaded Common Hot Dogs?

The Garage is now open to buskers throwing their hats out too — so bring some cash money or some pocket change in case there’s talent you vibe on... Change is as good as a holiday, so they say.

Again, we’re open from 9am Wednesday to Saturday - but a reminder there’s always a break at some stage in the day.

There really was some magic in the air at Common Garage over the weekend!

A massive thank you to Paul and Jack from Hartwood, who became the first buskers to play at the Garage. You boys set the tone for what I hope will become a pretty special part of this place.

Countless musos have asked about playing here, so it’s time to open the roller door and let it happen.

During our afternoon and evening sessions, the music corner is now open to buskers, musicians and anyone who wants to bring their instrument, grab their possy and have an unplugged jam. Put out the hat, share your sound and see what happens.

This music corner will evolve over time. The idea is to create a space for collaboration, experimentation and, above all, a celebration of community. No big production needed. Just people, instruments and a willingness to have a go and be heard.

Interested in playing? Pop down and introduce yourself to Jimmy behind the counter at Alice, the coffee and hot dog trailer. Or simply bring your instrument and your mates, jump on the piano and jam.

The weekend is looking LOADED at the Garage...

Friday | 4–8pm
The Paella Guy + Timmo’s Slow Cooked Co
Two of our favourite food options are back at the Garage for Friday night, serving from 4pm.

Alice will also be serving loaded hot dogs throughout the afternoon and evening.

Saturday | Extended Lunch + Dinner | 1–8pm
Loco Tacos + Playing with Fire Pizza

Saturday is an extended lunch and dinner session, with Loco Tacos and Playing with Fire Pizza joining us from 1pm through until 8pm - an extended session on request from a group family booking.

And for the early starters, Alice will be open Saturday morning from 9am until around 11.30am–midday for coffee and cupcakes for a quick break before the afternoon session kicks off.

Then from 1pm, the Garage switches into lunch and dinner mode — with tacos, nachos, pizza and loaded hot dogs on the menu.

Friday night. Saturday lunch. Saturday dinner.

There’s a new addition to the Garage this week, with Alice moving into her next chapter.

From this week, loaded hot dogs are joining the Alice menu for every afternoon and evening session at Common Garage, replacing our much-loved jaffles.

The jaffles have been part of Alice from the very beginning, so a big thank you to everyone who has ordered one, shared one and helped make them part of the Garage story.

They’ve had a good run — but it’s time to make room for something new - although I suspect they’ll make a come back in the mornings down the line.

And we couldn’t have made the move into hot dogs without some very generous help from Jason at Hot Didely Dogs.

Jason has been one of our most consistent vendors and, throughout the process of bringing loaded hot dogs to Alice, the Didely Dog crew have been incredibly supportive with advice, knowledge and plenty of practical help.

We’re looking forward to getting the new menu rolling, and we’re sure there’ll be plenty more opportunities for Common Garage and Didely Dogs to work together in the future.

A Wednesday afternoon visit from Mrs Browne Bakes to get the week underway.

FRIDAY | 9 OCTOBER | 4–8PM

Friday night brings two of the favourite options to the Garage, with The Paella Guy and Timmo’s Slow Cooked Co serving from 4pm.

SATURDAY | 10 OCTOBER | 1–8PM
Loco Tacos + Playing with Fire Pizza

An extended Saturday Session this week is all about tacos and pizza, with Loco Tacos and Playing with Fire Pizza taking over from 1pm into the night.

Alice is open 9am–12pm Wednesday to Saturday, with coffee, cupcakes and all your morning Garage essentials.

Then, when the afternoon sessions begin, the loaded hot dogs are on.

Another week. Another little evolution of the Garage.

Don’t mean to waffle on about it, but I’m pretty excited that Common Garage will be hosting Waff A Lot this Friday night!

They’ve been gathering a cult following wherever they go, so you’ll have to get yourself down to the Garage and find out what the waffle is all about.

Before that, Mrs Browne Bakes kicks off the week on Wednesday afternoon, bringing plenty of sweet reasons to drop by.

Then Friday night it’s Waff A Lot from 4–8pm, followed by our regular Saturday night residents, Loco Tacos and Sticky Fingers BBQ.

And remember, we’re open Wednesday to Saturday from 9am–1pm for coffee, jaffles and cupcakes.

After a month of Wednesdays, Craig Holloway is back at the Garage for the last time for a little while!

Craig is a local Ballarat photographer who has a knack for capturing the incredible town of Ballarat and the surrounds in a way that makes you look twice. 

In addition to his photography he has a collection of historical maps of Ballarat that he has converted into Jigsaw puzzles - like this one of Ballarat East from 1957… you can find him here today on the corner of Peel Street N and Rowe Street, Black Hill, for you to pick up the perfect item to relax with over the long weekend.

Beautiful Ballarat photography. Jigsaw puzzles. Books. Ceramic coasters. Something local, something different, and something you can actually keep.

And while you’re waiting to grab a sweet treat from Mrs Browne Bakes and Hot Didely Dogs, and a coffee while you wander through Craig’s collection.
