It’s World Rum Day today!

Six years is a long time to wait for a drink. Ours is spent in ex-Bourbon and ex-Rye barrels, once used for maple syrup, the kind of detail you can’t rush and can’t fake.

What comes out the other end is spice and oak up front, demerara sugar and vanilla settling in, a slow finish of brown butter and warmth.

This is a rum built for sitting still with, not skulling.

World Rum Day seemed like the right excuse to properly introduce it.

Steve Thew is with us today at 3pm for the Sunday Set - acoustic guitar, banjo, harmonica and piano.
