Grain time again.

The last tonne didnt last as long as normal, but we did make 2 Wheelie bins full of chook food.

We also checked in with Lindsay & there shouldn't be any issues picking up the next tonne of grain, either.

Finally started the vege garden.

This is the first bed as it was already here & just needed fresh soil.

We have a few other old metal water tanks around the property.

We plan on pulling them out of the paddocks & turning them into garden beds too.

The Peas can apparently be eaten whole or shelled.

The Broccoli is able to be continuously picked.

I love Coriander, its my favourite herb, so it's in the vege garden & 2 of the pots.

The Nasturtiums are good for pollination & bug control. I put a few in pots to plant near the chooks pens too.

The Blueberry, Boysenberry & PawPaw will eventually get relocated.

My original plan was to go with all Heritage plants, but these were all I could get.

At least we finally got started.

The old shed is nearly finished being turned into a Incubating shed. It has been Insulated & the power is now connected....

The old shed is nearly finished being turned into a Incubating shed.

It has been Insulated & the power is now connected.
We have also put metal screens on the doors for airflow.

Only 3 things left to do.

1: Run water through the shed for the Brooders.
We're currently trying to work out how to get the flow to work correctly & make them quick connect, so we can easily take the brooder boxes out to clean.

2: Do a final Seal up of any gaps, to make it 100% Snake proof.

3: Build a yard, connected to it for the chicks to grow out.

I've had a thermometer in the shed, for the last few days & the temps seem ok.

So I turned on the Incubator yesterday & I will set a trial lot of eggs to see how it goes.

The chicks & keets that are currently in the bathroom, won't move over until we have sorted the water out.
But we now have no Incubators in the Dining room, so slowly moving things out of the house.

Our 2 new Berkshire Boars we picked up this morning have settled in nicely.

Yay, after posting on sooooo, many pages, I finally found a breeder willing to sell me Boar piglets.

Road trip on the weekend to, Toogoolawah, to pick up not 1, but 2 Boar piglets.

We have 2 Bucks, just in case something happens to 1.

So, as Berkshires are nearly impossible to find & our old Breeder, that we have always bought Boars from previously, closed down....
We decided to get 2.

It might end up costing us more in Diesel than the actual piglets, though.

Unfortunately with Bruce's death, we are looking for a new Berkshire Boar.If you know anyone who breeds Pure Berkshires,...

The pigs shelter got a bit wet, so we went down to grab some wood chip to give them dry bedding to sleep in.
We got down there ok, but got a bit (actually a lot lol) bogged.

So we used the winch on the quad to pull us to the closet trees & turn us around, then threw the sn**ch strap around a nice strong Ironbark to pull us onto drier ground.

It was a very muddy 3 point turn.

Hopefully the shelter is now dry enough for our young Buck & his friends.
As while the pigs didn't mind the mud, the goats definitely didn't like it.

Loving the rain, though the goats hate it.The IBC's on the pigs & goats shelters are full, so we've been out in the rain...

Loving the rain, though the goats hate it.

The IBC's on the pigs & goats shelters are full, so we've been out in the rain transferring the water into the 16 dirty IBC's, Dylan got from Brissy last week.

Once these IBC's are cleaned, some will go on the Livestock shelters for extra water storage, a few are damaged, so will be cut & turned into Chick Brooders & some we will sell.

Third Python I've seen lately, but Second I've had to relocate.

This boy was curled up between the Chick shed & the stacked old Aviary.

Normally he would have been out of the way, but we're putting the Insulation on the walls, so Dylan needed to get in, to screw the studs on.

He really didn't appreciate being moved & kept striking at the broom handle as I was trying to get him on it.
Can't blame him, I'd be upset being moved with a full belly of chicken, too.
As he was so defensive, I could only move him a few metres away, but it was far enough to get him out of our way.

The pump blew on the Karcher gerney & we have a heap of IBC's to clean out.

So we thought we'd see how good the Full Boar gurney works.

It has more PSI than our old Karcher, and we looked at the new Karchers & they now only come with 4 Nozzles, where as our old one & the Full Boar, both have 5 Nozzles.

We'll test it out over the weekend, or today if we get time.
