Konnichiwa, fellow proponents of botanical curiosity! The 10th year of our obsessive hunt for exotic aromas took us to the Land of the Rising Sun – to our most trusted cooper, to be exact. After starting our effort to acquire the Holy Grail of ageing barrels back in 2016 and spending two years pleading our case, we finally secured the right to purchase five of these prized vessels. We’re thus proud to present our 2020 Distiller’s Cut: a very special Monkey 47 that was aged in Mizunara Barrels!

To make it a fair deal for everybody, we decided to set up a raffle for the limited amount of bottles. This year we produced 3589 bottles for the whole world except the US. For the second time the US is going to receive an extra version due to laws which forbid the 500ml bottle. We are going to release a 375ml version of the Monkey 47 Distiller’s Cut 2020 (only available in the US: 2012 bottles) in the beginning of November 2020.

About 80 kilometres west of the Austrian capital, the picture-perfect Wachau Valley can be found between the towns of Melk and Krems on the blue Danube. The apricots grown in abundance there have served as the main inspiration for the third entry in our Experimentum Series, which we’ve refined with a hint of the poppies that are currently blooming into a natural spectacle across wide swathes of the surrounding Waldviertel region.
