Yum 😋 the cattle love the smell, feel & taste of this ration, and it doesn’t even contain silage!!

🤓 Using a blend of hay, straw, cracked barley, canola meal, citrus pulp and our Beef 50 concentrate pellet and just the right amount of water 💧 (key for cattle TMRs 😉) this beef feedlot finisher ration has got these cattle cranking 💪

Tips for feeding beef cattle: Processing grain
1) Grist (grind) size is important. Too many ‘fines’ quickly leads to acidosis and feedlot bloat. Too much whole grain typically passes through indigested and is wasteful.

2) Good grist size on the rolled/cracked barley. It’s cracked just enough for the rumen microbes to do their work and make the best use of the grain.

3) It is important to use a rumen buffer when feeding more than 4-5kg of grain. Read the label and make sure the ‘feedlot’ product actually includes a decent buffer such as Acid Buf.
