Here we go again!
The first corn plants are pushing through the soil, making their way towards the sun.. always good vibes watching a new season come to life. Not long now until these blocks are a sea of green. 🌽

Planting season is officially underway! 🌽 With the cover crops worked in and the soil ready, our sweetcorn seed is going into the ground this week here at Loveday. Three generations of farming have taught us that a good start below the ground makes all the difference come picking time!

We are starting to work the cover crops in this week, ready for corn planting to begin in just a couple of weeks! The oats have done a great job of filling the soil with nutrients and oxygen to give the corn seeds the best possible start to life! 🌽

The corn harvester in action. 🌽

The whole plant gets cut off at ground level, gets pulled through rollers which send the corn cob into the bin and the rest of the plant back on the ground. It’s crazy to think we used to harvest by hand not all that long ago! Now these machines do all the hard work for us, 5-6 nights a week, 8 months of the year. A big shout out to our team of dedicated machine operators. 💪

Thanks to Loveday 4x4 Adventure Park for the video.
