The Old Schoolmaster’s Cottage is nestled cosily in the picturesque Barrington River Valley. Built in the late 1800s our Cottage is one of the oldest original residences in the Barrington Valley. The Cottage’s history has been enhanced by recent renovations, which highlight its old-world charm. The Cottage enjoys a breathtaking position right on the banks of the Barrington River with an outlook ov

Sit on the verandah, listen to sounds of the river and overlook the magnificent Bucketts Mountain Range, all of which add to the unique atmosphere of the Cottage. Swim or go tubing down the Barrington River which is less than 100 metres away, or sit comfortably near the slow combustion fire in the winter months. All year round, the Cottage provides a unique escape into the heart of the countryside. Canoeing, hiking, mountain biking, horse-riding, fishing, tennis and golf are all nearby. Fifteen minutes in a car takes you to the historic Gloucester town center, with cafès, pubs, museums and parks as well as extremely friendly locals. LOCATION

Our Cottage is in Barrington New South Wales which is a comfortable 3 hours drive north of Sydney and under 1.5 hours drive from Newcastle. The Old Schoolmaster's Cottage is the ideal location for those seeking tranquility and relaxation. The Cottage is also ideally located for those who wish to explore the World Heritage listed Barrington Tops and Gloucester Tops to marvel at the extreme natural beauty of the area. DETAILS

Bedding configuration – the Cottage has 3 bedrooms with 2 single beds in one room, the other two bedrooms each have a queen bed. Linen and guest toiletries are provided

Slow Combustion fire in loungeroom – firewood is supplied

Gas BBQ with hood (located on covered return verandah)

Kitchen - fully equipped with a Miele oven and dishwasher, large fridge, microwave and cooktop. Bathrooms - The cottage has two bathrooms - one full bathroom with bath, shower recess and toilet and the second is a separate toilet

Mobile phones – please note that there is limited mobile phone access. For those who must stay within reach - FREE WIFI, local calls and satellite television are provided. GROUP BOOKINGS

We are now able to accommodate larger families/groups of up to 14 guests using our sister property 'Barrington River House' which is located on the same large rural farm. The Cottage and House are completely separate from each other and each is extremely private. To access the Cottage from the House (and vice versa) you need to cross Barrington East Road and walk approximately 500m.
