Just a typical night for dairy farmers when you have cows calving.

Raina is patiently waiting for me to finish the morning’s milking so we can go home for second breakfast.

Thank you to the many wonderful applicants who applied for our delivery / production assistant job advertised recently.
We were inundated with some great people we would have loved to join our team, but unfortunately there was only one position.
The position is now filled, and we would like to thank everyone who showed an interest in our little dairy.

For those who didn’t hear, last month was a tough one on the farm. 9 days in hospital was an unplanned “holiday” I hadn’t allowed for.

Following a couple of weeks with what I thought was the flue, it deteriorated into something much worse. Just made it to the ambulance unassisted, pride can be a good motivational driver! Once in the emergency ward I was proded, poked, and connected to a variety of tubes and equipment. The next night deteriorated to a full blown metcall situation and a little too close to a permanent holiday. Following numerous tests I’m told it could have been a virus. Some virus !
Another couple of weeks resting at home and I’m now back milking cows and doing the many things farmers need to do. I’m told it could take up to 18 months before all the symptoms phase out, so take it easy. Not possible when you are a farmer !!

The cows and Raina ( pictured) were out of sorts wondering where I was. Working and caring for your animals 24/7 creates a special bond.

A heart felt thank you to the many people who stepped in and did what was needed. I won’t mention names as I know they would rather be anonymous. Without them the farm would have been in trouble.

Now it’s back to farming and providing milk to our on farm micro dairy and artisan cheese factory.

The farm shop is open all school holidays, so if you see me say hello. It’s nice being back.

Skip the traffic. Head somewhere worth the drive. 🧀

This Easter long weekend, trade the busy freeways for rolling green pastures — and a cheese board you won't forget.

At Bassine Specialty Cheeses in Gippsland, every wheel is made right here on the farm, from the milk of our own herd.

Our café is open and waiting. Come meet the cows. Stay for the cheese.
