Instead of releasing the well-loved Gordon, in 2018 we decided to do something different with our Bordeaux varieties.

Two blocks, two expressions, both distinctly Granite Hills. Mirroring the plantings on the left and right banks of the river that splits Bordeaux, our Right Block is based on Merlot and Cabernet Franc and shows the purple fruit and aromatic lift of those varieties, while the Left Block is Cabernet Sauvignon with some Franc, Merlot and Malbec, and shows the elegant graphite and blackberry character more seen on the left side of the Garonne.

Both are classic claret styles, both perfectly cellared until ready for release. Both are currently available to taste side by side at the cellar door, or have the pair sent to your door from our online shop.

Our 2024 release marks the 50th vintage from the oldest Riesling vines on the property, a milestone for the vines, the family, and the land that has carried them both.

The 1971 Block Riesling has been a part of Granite Hills from the very beginning, being the second block planted by the Knight family, and perhaps the first to show just how well this site could speak through wine.

The older vines bring depth of flavour and drive, and for 5 decades the block has formed the core of the Estate Riesling, helping that wine win 42 trophies over those years. As the more recent plantings mature, more and more often the ‘young’ vines can stand on their own and there is an opportunity to release a portion of the old vines as a separate wine.

Still not released every year, the 2024 edition is classic Granite Hills. It has a beautifully floral nose, and a palate of finger lime, just ripe stonefruits and mouth-watering acidity.

A wine worthy of the 50th vintage, it tastes as if someone took the Estate Riesling and turned all the dials up one notch.

NEW RELEASE: In 2020, we made a champagne method sparkling from estate-grown Pinot Noir (53%), Chardonnay (37%), and Pinot Blanc (10%), with the intention of releasing it progressively after varying times aging on lees.

Now, after 36 months, the first disgorgement is ready.

Only 260 bottles of this wine were disgorged for this release, with similar tiny quantities to be made available at 52, 64, and 76 months!

In many ways, this 36 months is still a baby, and only beginning to show the toasty, brioche characters that come from aging on lees. Its defining characteristics at the moment are a creamy mousse and a clean, upfront fruit profile, with developing mid-palate complexity from the aforementioned lees aging, all falling into a clean finish and excellent length, driven by a minerally line of acidity.

Available online or direct from our cellar door.

2023 Gamay Noir, a variety originally from the Beaujolais region in France and now thriving in the Macedon Ranges.

This vintage combines savoury red fruit with a hint of pepper, rounded off with soft tannins and a long, smooth finish. It’s a beautiful expression of the region's potential, offering a unique balance of flavours. Whether you’re a Gamay enthusiast or new to this varietal, this release is one you won’t want to miss.
