What a fantastic two days!

As part of Scenic Rim Eat Local Month, I had the pleasure of teaching Pickling Fundamentals classes and sharing my passion for preserving local produce. Through The Drunken Farmhand, I'm fortunate to not only teach these skills but also showcase the incredible local farmers, artisans, producers and small businesses that make the Scenic Rim such a special place.

A huge thank you to Caz from Scenic Rim Cooking Classes for collaborating on this wonderful event. Together we welcomed some amazing students who learned the basics of safe pickling, enjoyed a delicious spread of local food and drinks, and went home with a copy of my Pickling Fundamentals book and the confidence to start preserving at home.

The classes were filled with great questions, plenty of learning, lots of laughs, and a genuine appreciation for local food and the people who produce it.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the event such a success. Supporting local producers and sharing traditional food preservation skills is something I'm incredibly passionate about, and seeing so many enthusiastic faces over the last two days made it all worthwhile.

Here's to more pickles, more learning, and more celebrating everything that makes the Scenic Rim amazing!

All products are available from my shop in Beaudesert.

You’ve got questions, we’ve got pickles. 🥒✨

Whether you want to know what pairs best on a grazing board, which pickle packs the most punch, or what weird and wonderful flavours we’re working on next, we’re always happy to chat food.

At The Drunken Farmhand, we love sharing the stories behind the jars, supporting local makers, and helping people discover something new for their pantry. From sweet and tangy to smoky and spicy, there’s a flavour for everyone.

Grown local, made local, kept local. 🚜🌾
Around here, we believe good food starts with good people, local growers, makers, farmers, and small businesses who genuinely care about what they produce.

Every shelf at The Drunken Farmhand is packed with small-batch products, handmade favourites, and locally sourced goodies we’re proud to stand behind. From pickles and preserves to cheeses, olives, sauces, jerky, and grazing essentials, we’ll always choose quality over quantity.

Because supporting local doesn’t just mean buying local, it means building community, backing small makers, and keeping regional flavours alive. ❤️

Swipe through to see why local will always matter to us. ➡️

Just a quick heads-up that The Drunken Farmhand will be closed Friday 5 June and Saturday 6 June.

You'll find us instead at the Fermented Food Festival at Summer Land Camels on Saturday, where we'll be running fermentation demonstrations and bringing along a selection of our pickles and small-batch ferments for sale.

As many of you know, we're a small family-run business, and throughout June there may be the occasional day where we need to close the shop for events, workshops, production days, or other commitments. We'll do our best to provide plenty of notice whenever this happens.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support of local small business. We look forward to seeing some familiar faces at the festival this weekend!
