A little heads up — we’re hitting the road again! 💨
The Iron Hills Meadery tasting room will be CLOSED Saturday 17 October because we’re packing up the mead and heading out to Kalbar Country Day & the Hay Bale Trail! 🌾🍯🍷
You’ll be able to find us pouring tastings and stocking you up with your favourite bottles at Kalbar Country Day markets, so come and say hello while you’re out exploring everything happening around Kalbar. And don't forget to check out the amazing Hay Bales!
The tasting room will be back to normal trading on the 18th. 🤎
Country roads, hay bales & mead… sounds like a pretty good Saturday to us. 😉

A morning well spent ☕️🤎
There’s something pretty special about getting a room full of local business owners, community members and passionate people together — good conversations, new connections and plenty of ideas shared along the way.
Yesterday morning was another reminder of just how much is happening within our local business community, and how valuable it is to actually step away from the emails, the to-do lists (and in our case, the mead 😅) and simply connect with the people around us.
We’re incredibly proud to be building Iron Hills here in Beaudesert and to be surrounded by so many people who genuinely want to see local businesses succeed.
A few snaps from a lovely morning of networking, conversations and community right in our tasting room!
And yes… coffee was absolutely required before the mead came out. ☕️😉

Before it becomes mead, it starts here. 🍇
One of our favourite things about what we do is knowing the story behind the ingredients that go into every bottle.
Our mulberries aren’t just something we order from a supplier — they come from a local farm, grown by real people, picked in season and then brought back to us to become something completely different.
From rows of mulberry trees to fermenters at Iron Hills, these little berries eventually become the rich, dark fruit flavours you know in our Mulberry Mead. 🍷
There’s something pretty special about being able to visit where an ingredient is grown, see the work that goes into it, and then take that produce back to the meadery and give it a whole new chapter.
Farm → fruit → ferment → mead.
Simple ingredients. Local stories. Really bloody good mead. ❤️
So supporting Iron Hills Meadery comes with supporting other local businesses and farms!

The faces behind the mead 🍯🍷
If you’ve walked through our doors lately, chances are you’ve found one (or both) of us behind the bar.
Toby — the one behind the mead itself. From choosing the honey and building flavour profiles to experimenting with oak, fruit, spice and everything in between.
Katrina — the one behind the marketing, admin, events, bookings and all the little details that somehow turn a room full of mead into Iron Hills.
Together, we’re just two people who decided the world needed to experience mead a little differently.
No goblets. No helmets. No need to know anything about mead before you walk through the door.
Just locally crafted honey w**e, a bit of country charm, good conversation and usually a new batch for Toby to convince you to try. 😉
We’ve poured a ridiculous amount of ourselves into getting our little meadery here, and seeing people now sitting at the bar, sharing a cheese board and discovering that “wait… THIS is mead?” never gets old.
So, from the two faces behind Iron Hills — thank you for walking through our doors, telling your mates about us and giving something a little different a go. 🤎
All you need is mead.
