🍳🍴One aspect of what we do that we’re trying to lean into more and more, is doing FARM TO PLATE lunches with our crews, featuring and championing veggies grown on the farm.🍴🍳

Our lunches are a big part of our programs, as not only do they provide a healthy feed for our young people, but by engaging the crew in the process from harvest to plate up, they learn really valuable life skills!

This is especially true for our Hands-on program, where every Monday we work together to put a lunch together, sometime feeding close to 20 people!

Over the last few months, we’ve made:

🎃Pumpkin soup
🌭BBQ meat and veg
🥑Nachos
🥕Vietnamese rice paper rolls
🌯Chicken wraps
🍔Burgers
🫜Lebanese plata
🍕Pizza
🥔Banga’s and Mash
🍝Spaghetti Bolognaise

We’d loving getting creative with seasonal eating, and pushing the boundaries with what you can cook with a BBQ and a little gas burner!

If you, or someone you show are keen to get involved in a Hands-On Monday program, then flick us a DM! We’d love to hear from you!🐝🐝

🌱Another year, another trophy for the cabinet🏆

On Saturday night a few of our crew hit the town to attend the Bega Business awards, put on by the , and hosted at the Bega Commemorative centre.

🐝We were chuffed to come out with a ‘highly commended’ badge in the category of Diversity and Inclusion.

It’s really cool for us to be nominated in this category, as it’s not something we speak to allot, but the diversity of young people that form our team at Grow the Future is an outcome of the inclusive, open- door environment we intentionally try to create. On top of that, we see the diversity within our team, and the way that some really cool peer-to-peer mentor and support relationships form on our farm, creates a really dynamic, innovative and fun atmosphere that is a real strength of Grow the Future.

🙏Thanks to all who made the night happen. congratulations to all the winners, and all the finalists on the night. Thank you to all those who nominated us. Thank you to our community for being an amazing place to do what we do. And most importantly, thank you and congratulations to all the young people who continue to make Grow the Future what it is!🐝🐝🐝

🌲🕸️We do a participant survey whenever we finish a cohort in the Grow the Future Training Program. And this cohort will be number 5, so that’s a decent sample size! 🕸️🌲

One of the sessions that comes up super regularly in the feedback as one of the highlights, is our morning spent walking along the Bega River Wetlands with the BRAWL Landcare group.

🌳On Wednesday, it was the current cohorts turn to walk, and they had a great time.

The river is the defining feature of our town, and its ecosystem provides such a great learning environment.

A big thank you to Erin, Ali and Bob for sharing their time and their experience, and for giving our students an insight into the regeneration work that is going on in the wetland that connects to Grow the Future!🕸️🐞🌲🌳

Follow along to find out about opportunities to get ur mitts on our local, sustainably grown seedlings, including next Thursday, May 21, where we’ll be hosting a pop-up plant sale at the Red Cafe in Bega!🌱🌱🌱

🌲🌱In was allot of fun being apart of CAREER FEST 2026 last Friday, help between Bega High School, Bega TAFE, and UOW Bega.🌱🌲

Throughout the day we got the chance to connect with students from schools all around the Bega Valley, Snowy Monaro, Eurobodella, and Mallacoota, to learn a bit about what they wanted for their future, and share a bit about what GTF is all about.

We developed a new engagement activity that featured on the stall, where crew had to match the right veggie seed, card (from the GTF card game) and leaf, with a combination of options.

🎴The game was a real hit, with two winners who got the right combo! Proving that it was easy enough to be achievable, but hard enough to mean we didn’t have to give away too many GTF tote bags as prizes!🎖️

🌱Is anyone traveling from Eden to Bega tomorrow morning, and back again in the arvo, who’s up for giving a GTF student a lift?
DM us if this might be you! Thanks
