Our Timor-Leste family had the pleasure of welcoming Ambassador Inês Almeida from the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.

Ambassador Almeida takes a genuine, hands-on approach to supporting her compatriots while they are living and working in Australia, and it was wonderful to see that care and connection firsthand.

A special relationship

This video Coles put together really highlights the special relationship we’ve built over the years.

After supplying Coles exclusively for more than 25 years, they’ve become much more than just a customer or business partner to us. After all this time, it really does feel more like family.

We’ve grown together, worked through the good seasons and the challenging ones, and always shared the same commitment to putting quality strawberries on the shelves for Australian families.

We’re proud of the relationship we’ve built and incredibly thankful for the support Coles has shown our families and farm over so many years.

A big effort from our picking and packing teams!

Working hard to pick today’s strawberries and get them packed in time to meet our truck deadlines.

Picked, packed and sent — helping get our strawberries from the farm to Coles as fresh as possible.

When a weather event hits during peak production, the amount of fruit that becomes unsuitable for retail can rise very quickly.

We do everything we can to make sure good fruit doesn’t go to waste — donating strawberries to Foodbank, selling second-grade fruit where possible, and finding other outlets. But during major weather events, the volume can simply become too great for these options to absorb.

At that point, the only economically viable option is to redirect the remaining strawberries as livestock feed. It’s certainly not where we want our fruit to end up, but it means it can still be put to use rather than simply going to landfill.

It’s one of the tougher realities of farming. Months of work go into every crop, and sometimes the weather ultimately has the final say.

Supporting Australian farmers and buying local produce makes a real difference, especially during challenging seasons like this. 🍓🌧️🐄🇦🇺

The iconic Ekka strawberry sundae is back – proudly made with Queensland-grown strawberries. 🍓

It’s just one of the many delicious treats you can enjoy featuring fresh Queensland strawberries.

Around 90% of the strawberries sold in Australian supermarkets over winter were developed by DPI’s Australian Strawberry Breeding Program, with many grown right here in Queensland. Our breeding program works with local growers to develop new varieties that taste great, perform well on-farm and thrive in our subtropical climate.

This year, growers across South East Queensland and Bundaberg are trialling promising new varieties, helping shape the next generation of Queensland strawberries.
