Breeding pen 5 out for some grass
I have 5 pens of partridge Welsummers this season.

This sunny warmer weather and lengthening days is encouraging the girls to lay.
This is today’s lot from the partridge Welsummers, Anconas and Cream Legbars.
I’m very happy with the colour and size in the partridge girls’s eggs 😍

Found this Welsummer pullet egg today in the Silver Duckwing pen. Pretty happy with the colour and this photo is very close to the actual shade.

The reality at this early stage of the season!
First lot of eggs were set a week ago but about 2/3s were either infertile or early deaths.
These eggs get boiled up and fed back to the chooks. Second batch went in yesterday so now the weather is warming up hopefully so does fertility.
For all those people hoping for early eggs patience is required as there’s no point me posting eggs until fertility is acceptable or you’d be wasting your money.

This Ancona hen started turning white last season and is more white this year.

Had a pretty good day at Bendigo Poultry Club’s Annual Show today.
Champion Heavy Waterfowl with a Saxony duck
She also won Champion RareBreed Waterfowl
Reserve Heavy Waterfowl with a Silver Appleyard drake.
Reserve Soft Feather Std Light with a Welsummer pullet
She also won Champion Rare Breed Soft Feather Std
Reserve Light Waterfowl with a Welsh Harlequin duck
Reserve Soft Feather Light Bantam with a bantam Welsummer
Best of Breed Standard Ancona and Peter English rosette award and Champion Ancona overall for the VPFA award with a pullet
as well as 1st Ancona Hen and 1st cockerel in some good competition.
