20 years ago, Ash walked through the doors of Strath Hill Butcher as a young apprentice.

A lot has changed over those 20 years, but Ash has been a pretty constant part of our business and our Strath Hill family.

We’ve watched him grow from an apprentice into an amazing butcher, and he’s become someone our customers know, trust and love seeing behind the counter.

He’s also helped train plenty of apprentices along the way, passing on the skills he’s picked up over the years.

Thanks for 20 years, Ash. For the hard work, the laughs and all the memories along the way. We’re incredibly proud that we’ve had the chance to watch you grow from a young apprentice into the butcher and incredible person you are today.

We’re so proud to celebrate this milestone with you and grateful to have you as part of our Strath Hill family.

Six Gold Medals🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇

Six reasons to be proud.

But today, we want to put the spotlight on Fraser.

Fraser was away on holidays when we attended the Australian Meat Industry Council Awards, so he unfortunately missed the moment his Thai Green Curry Chicken Sausage took home not one, but TWO Gold Medals! 🥇🥇

This sausage was created during our very own Butcher Wars competition.

And for us, seeing the Thai Green Curry Chicken Sausage receive this recognition is about so much more than the medals. It’s about the learning, the skills, the confidence and watching a young butcher take what he’s learnt and create something of his own.

Congratulations Fraser. We couldn’t be prouder!

WE’RE LOOKING FOR AN APPRENTICE

WE MAY HAVE CREATED A PROBLEM…
We were already pretty busy… then we went and picked up a few awards, spring arrived, and things are looking like they’re about to get even busier.

Our team could use another set of hands.

So, we’re looking for a 1st or 2nd year apprentice butcher to join the Strath Hill Butcher family.

We’re looking for someone who is keen to learn the trade, curious, reliable, enjoys being part of a team.

You’ll learn from experienced butchers, develop your skills and become part of a family business that’s been part of the Bendigo community for over 20 years.

We care about our team, our customers and our community, and we’re looking for someone who shares those values.

Training and schooling is completed on site with South West TAFE, giving you the opportunity to learn the trade while working alongside our experienced team.

Must be available to work Saturdays until 12.30pm.

Running a small business is hard. It’s tough, and having like minded people around you who understand exactly what you’re going through makes such a difference.

Last night at the Australian Meat Industry Awards was pretty special. Not only did we get to celebrate bringing home some awards, but we got to celebrate alongside other Bendigo butchers and share in their success too.

There’s something pretty special about seeing Bendigo butchers get to celebrate together, seeing people from our own town doing well, supporting each other and celebrating an industry we’re all so passionate about.

Supporting local and supporting the small guys is something I’m passionate about, and I’ll keep shouting it from the rooftops.

Last night we headed to Melbourne to celebrate at the AMIC Victorian Meat Excellence Awards, including the Apprentice of the Year Awards.

We are incredibly proud of Liam for stepping up and entering Apprentice of the Year. While he didn’t take home the title, he put himself out there, challenged himself and gained so much from the experience. We couldn’t be prouder of the young butcher he is becoming.

And we certainly didn’t come home empty handed…
