In my last post, I spoke about the importance of viewing progeny of the semen sires or donor females you’re considering using in your breeding program.

When I’m looking to purchase a stud animal — whether it’s destined to breed in a seedstock program or go into a commercial herd — I want to see the animal, not just the catalogue page.

I want to see their feet.
I want to see how they walk.
I want to assess their structure, bone and overall doing ability.
I want to see the quality of their udder.
I want to see the sire and dam, where possible.
And I want to see progeny — particularly progeny related to the mating or the cow — to see what those genetics are actually producing.

For me, it’s about putting the whole picture together.

And that’s exactly what you’ll have the opportunity to do at the Ganado Greys Open Day on Saturday, 12th September.

You’ll be able to walk through the cattle, see them moving, inspect their feet, see related animals, look at progeny and get a much better understanding of the genetics behind the cattle — not just what’s written on paper.

She's earned her place in the donor pen through her correctness, structural soundness, and a family history stacked with quality brood cows.

I really like the look of this little nugget 😍 you may call him "X-factor".

He’s out of Supreme Exhibit Melbourne Royal '22, Ganado Opal, and sired by Supreme Exhibit Melbourne Royal, Bendigo Show & National Show & Sale '23/24, Ganado Too Cool.

He's not yet 3 months old but so far shows the thickness, bone, mobility and docility that I like to see in my potential stud bulls.

What is with this cow?!

6 months ago I captured a fabulous photo of Ganado Anna 2nd and her bull calf Wrangler standing in front of a rainbow.

Fast forward six months, I'm out doing videos and sale photos, a passing shower rolls through... and there it is again. Another rainbow.

It must be a sign – the pot of gold you've been looking for! 🌈✨

Embryos from this outstanding female sell on 14 October as Lot 1 in The Crown Collection: Online Genetics Auction.

These embryos are both domestic and USA ELIGIBLE!

There's always a crowd when someone goes and gets themselves bogged (or 'bobbed' as Phoenix calls it 😂)
