One year on and ours pastures are starting to take shape! From Photo 1 - to Photo 2 👍

We love Spring, Autumn and Winter in Eugowra…
Summer? Yeah, we’re happy to leave that one out! 😂… But in Summer we do have theParkes Elvis Festival and Katy and Archie visit.

A couple of days away from fibre!!

But we are “Getting very close!”

We’re now 80% classed, with just 3 more days to finish.

Then it’s off to the bond store, followed by the big job — loading the container for its 09/09/26 departure. 🦙🇦🇺

The pointy end is getting very sharp!! 😁

After which it’s on to Shearing and the December 2026 fibre containers- possibly 3 x shipments Canada, China and New Zealand.

The next container is getting closer, and we’re working our way through the colours.

Suri starts being classed Monday! We can still take some Suri over 15cm’s!!!

The Pointy End 🦙 - Next fibre container leaves 09/09/26.

White is pressed and done — now finalising the medium brown Huacaya, than black, greys and our favourite Mixed Coloured Pieces 25 bales to go.

And looking ahead… our next container leaves 11/12/26, with all colours in both Huacaya & Suri.

This farm just simply wouldn’t be the same without a selection of our wonderful Kelpies and short haired Boarder Collie. Banjo and Ginny are our working dogs - they are particularly useful when moving the mobs of alpaca mobs around the property or into the shed for shearing. Their daughter - Patti - isn’t as well practiced in working groups of animals. However - all three dogs (Banjo, Ginny and Patti) have become a crucial part of our fleece classing process. Banjo is an expert at sourcing only the highest quality alpaca to sleep on. Ginny is persistent in overseeing the pressing process. Patti ensures that the lighting and air circulation of the shed is at its optimum capacity. We’d be lost without them! 🐶🐶

Nationals 2026

Team Storybook and Suri Alliance had a wonderful time at the 2026 Australian Alpaca Association National Show and Sale. Involved in the show for the very first time as not only exhibitors or as sponsors- but as one of the judges too! Rubey was honoured to have been approached to step in and judge the fleece section of competition. A massive step in her judging career and a huge undertaking for a 26 year old.

Major thank you to everyone involved in the convening of such an important event on our show calendar - but especially to Darren and Rebecca from Ashbourne. Thank you to Natasha and Mary Jo for your commentary and judgment of our animals over three big days of show.

Our show team did us proud - considering our previous few breeding seasons have been largely impacted by our move out to the Central West - we were excited to show Suris and Huacayas in almost every age category! Some tough competition and so exciting to see the quality of Australian alpacas being shared across various studs across the country.

We had two stars of our show team - KURRAWA Gal About Town and SURI ALLIANCE All Spice. Gal has been one of our long time favourite suri females and her show results have always been overshadowed by other females in our herd such as SURILANA Jannine and KURRAWA CS Mystery N Magic. However - both of these girls dropped crias in Autumn and were unable to be shown - so our girl Gal stepped up and took on Nationals. A consistent ribbon winner for us we were so proud that she was named the 2026 National Senior Suri Female Champion - a title which she was awarded while Karen lead her. On her 4th fleece - she was commended on her strength of frame and impressive fibre characteristics. It was the two old girls for the win! One of two legs… the other on four!

Becoming somewhat of a speciality for these white breeders - our studs have been awarded National Grand Champion Roan Suri 3 times in the past 5 years - this time with SURI ALLIANCE All Spice. A testament to the quality of breeding that has been invested in our coloured breeding programmes.

A little pre-shearing job for our Spring Huacaya mating mob this morning patiently waiting their…

Pre-shearing:

• 6 in 1 vaccination
• Vitamin ADE
• Mighty Min
• Crias tagged and now officially weaners

Fingers crossed, around this time next year there’ll be a lot of hungry little cria at foot and they’ll all be busy feeding mums.

⏱️ 1 hour, 44 minutes and 26 seconds later — job done. Not a bad little morning’s work. 😂 Not rushing we didn't even get through 8 chapters of the Audio book. A similar size mob with the new race we'll do next week and see if the right decision has been made on the new race 🤷🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️

It was also the last mob through the old race before the new one goes in next week - you can never have too many slide gates. 😂

We’re doing our bit for the planet by choosing the official colour of environmental virtue.

But don’t worry, Greenies… the tractor is GREEN.
So technically, we’re saving the planet every time we start it. 🤣
