We are delighted to welcome Mary Pocock from Woollybutt Creations as a guest speaker at this year's Litchfield Women's Night Out.
Mary moved to the Northern Territory from Tasmania with her family in 2004, expecting to stay for a short time. More than 20 years later, the Territory is firmly home.
A Registered Nurse and Midwife by profession, Mary has worked across Tasmania, South Australia and Papua New Guinea, including in remote communities. Her career later expanded into education, recruitment and administration, including with Flinders University’s Northern Territory Medical Program, which focused on developing doctors to serve remote and Indigenous communities.
But Mary’s contribution to community extends well beyond her professional life.
She has been involved in community service organisations since she was a teenager, often taking on leadership roles. Together with her husband Roger, she formed an association to keep Berry Springs Community Market going, creating a regular meeting place for locals while supporting small businesses, artists, craftspeople and community groups.
Mary has also made a significant contribution through the Country Women’s Association, serving as President of the Litchfield Branch, President of the CWA of the NT and on the national board. In 2026, she was elected an ACWW Trustee and Pacific Area President, extending her community work onto an international stage.
Mary believes community can be local, national or global. When we break down barriers, support one another and work together, we can achieve so much more.
