Smoking Hot Confessions Smoking Hot Confessions is an award winning BBQ Media company and competitive team, dedicated to teaching, learning and sharing all about BBQ.

My name is Ben and I’m here to bring you some Smoking Hot Confessions. My first BBQ was a little round gas-powered camping BBQ that my Dad gave me when I went to Uni. Although it was a pig of a thing to cook on, I learnt a lot and had some great times with that little ‘Q. My interest in BBQ’ing continued and I ended up with a four-burner gas-powered hooded BBQ, which I have used to great success. However, in 2012 I was made redundant from my job and found myself as a stay-at-home Dad, and that’s when it all started…

I started watching YouTube videos looking for different ideas on what to cook for my family’s dinners and before I knew it, I had four BBQs, and was embarking on overnight cookouts. It was a rapid, slippery slope! I even entered the 2014 Australian Pitmaster Titles (a national BBQ competition) and managed to pick up first place in the Beef category! Throughout my 16 years experience, I’ve learnt many things, but the stand-out is that you don’t need a big fancy bbq, lots of money for expensive ingredients, and tonnes of time in order to cook some good food. All you need is the BBQ you've already got! And that is the goal of this blog: to bring sexy BBQ back to the everyman!

Time for my obligatory KV Bridge Pic!

This was the ten year anniversary of the Kangaroo Valley Craft B**r & BBQ Festival, and I am honoured to have been able to be a part of it.

This festival is always evolving and this year was no different. New additions were line dancing, a bubble pit, mechanical bull riding, and even a unicorn!

I want to give much thanks and praise to Caroline and her team at The Friendly Inn and of course to the winners of the SCA and ABA competitions, and of course everyone who took part in various podcast recordings that took place over the weekend - I have at least three episodes coming up for you all in the next few weeks!

Here’s to another ten years at KV!

Came out of the gym right around lunch time and opened up Facebook and what pops up, but a post from Heavenly Que, saying he’s just down the road from me. So I headed on down to the Gold Coast’s latest and greatest food trailer and it was a bloody good feed!

Brisket - on point
Pulled pork - on point
Fried chicken - amazing
Chips, Coleslaw and Pickles - perfect

10/10 Would smash again!
