True North Accommodation

I think I have mentioned True North Bilpin Accommodation before, but after enjoying watching a flock of Gang Gang cockatoos fly over there this week, and a beautiful Lyrebird the week before, I knew it was a sign to share again!
If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Bilpin this is it! A beautiful four bedroom bush retreat where you will wake up to the most amazing chorus of birds and feel instantly relaxed as soon as you arrive.
There is a variety of fruits and veggies to pick and even fresh eggs to collect for your brekkie.
Check it out for your next Bilpin trip!
Have you stayed at True North before? Let us know how it went!
(How beautiful if the Lyrebird!!)

We usually find the wallabies inside the net munching on our trees as dusk hits, but it was wonderful to see this huge Swamp wallaby chiling down the back, and not caring too much as he posed for a few photos!
Did you know that they are called Swamp wallabies because of the strong musky smell that comes from secretions in their skin and fur?

Lochiel House

This week we headed to Kurrajong Heights to visit the beautiful Lochiel House.
Lochiel House is a fantastic piece of local history, dating back to around 1825 and surrounded by gorgeous gardens it is a beautiful piece of local history.
The food was delicious, and Mum the scone connoisseur said the scones were lovely.
We will definitely be back, let us know if you have been and what you thought!

🐸 WILDLIFE WEDNESDAY 🐸

Can you spot the cute little head poking out of the strawberry bag?
We encounter lots of cool insects while we are working in the strawberry house, but its not too often we find a frog hiding in there!
This is a Peron's Tree Frog, at first it looks just mottled grey, but if you look closely, you can see lots of emerald green spots all over him, and amazing bright yellow under the back legs.
One awesome thing about this frog, is that they can change color from pale grey to red-brown in less than an hour based on temperature, light, and mood.
I absolutely love all the different wildlife we find on the orchard, there is always something to learn!

Mt Tomah Botanic Gardens

This weekend we needed some time to relax after a busy week at the Orchard so we headed just up the road to The Blue Mountains Botanic Garden, Mount Tomah
I love going in winter as the cool crisp air means the views are amazing and the proteas are in full bloom.
The Gardens are of course spectacular, but I always love to catch the birds as well. We were lucky enough to catch some friendly kookaburras hunting for their lunch (if you check out the photo you can see the worm going down the kookaburras throat!) and spotted a beautiful bowerbird building his bower.
It was our first time trying out the new cafe and lunch was delicious, we headed home full and relaxed, ready to start the work week again!
It was hard to choose just a few of the million photos I took for this post and not sure if you will see this, but thanks to the Christy who let us take a photo of her and her friend 😁

πŸ¦β€β¬›πŸ¦β€β¬› WILDLIFE WEDNESDAY! πŸ¦β€β¬›πŸ¦β€β¬›

Nature is rarely peaceful for birds of prey! This Australian Hobby found itself under attack from a fearless Currawong, determined to drive the raptor away from its territory. Despite being smaller, currawongs are well known for mobbing larger birds, swooping repeatedly until the intruder moves on.
It was amazing to watch this unfold in front of me, and in the end, the raptor moved on!

πŸ¦β€β¬›πŸ¦ WILDLIFE WEDNESDAY! πŸ¦πŸ¦β€β¬›

We were surprised to find this Eastern Whipbird busy making its nest in our mulberry tree today! We often hear their unmistakable "whip-crack" call echoing through the bush, but it was wonderful to catch a glimpse of this usually shy bird chirping away while building it's home.
Have you ever spotted a whipbird?
