Welcome to Pine Crest Orchard where you really can "Pick Your Own" Peaches, Plums, Apples and Pears. Enjoy a day out with your family picking your own fruit, strolling through the fruit trees and appreciating the adjoining Australian bush. If you plan to come in a big group we suggest you ring first so we can plan to maximise your enjoyment. Go to our website (www.pinecrestorchard.com.au) for the

latest news and to join our mailing list. The Shed also stocks local honey and nuts (when in season). Entry fee is $2/per person, $5/family, then just pay for what you pick. Toilets and picnic facilities are available. Remember the Bilpin Markets are on each Saturday morning at the Bilpin Community Hall from 10am till 12pm for sales of fresh local veges, plants and local crafts . So why not make a day of it and come to Pine Crest Orchard to experience all nature has to offer - straight from the trees into your hand. We are only an hour and a half drive west of the Sydney CBD along the Bells Line of Road.

🐛 WILDLIFE WEDNESDAY! 🐛

We had a few trees come down in the strong wind a few weeks ago, and when chopping them up for firewood i found this amazing Pink Witchetty Grub!
We find a lot of white ones, but this is my first pink one.
It turns out it is Wattle Goat Moth Larvae, they live inside the trunk of the Wattle trees for years before coming out to pupate.
Why do they have Goat in their name? Apparently when threatened they emit an unpleasant odour that smells like a Goat!
How amazing is nature!

The fruit season may be coming to and end, but there are so many other places to visit around Bilpin!
Each week I'll be shining a spotlight on a local business, sharing a little about who they are and what they do.
We are going to start it off with Hillbilly Cider, known for their award winning ciders and wines, and amazing woodfired pizzas.

I thought I would do something a bit different today! This weekend we went to Secret Creek a fantastic Wildlife Sanctuary in Lithgow.
I cant believe I had never been before when its so close, we had such an awesome day!
I thought it would be nice to share as I know many people look for things to do when they head up for a drive.

I finally worked out how the persimmon were ending up on the roof of the netting 🤣
We have lots of Swamphens who live on our dams, and it turns out they like eating per simmon!
They were munching away when they noticed me, one grabbed a persimmon, bolted through a hole in the netting and walked straight up the side to the roof!
Very clever 😂

🐦 WILDLIFE WEDNESDAY! 🐦

I was so excited to spot this beautiful Yellow-faced Honeyeater earlier this week, I dont think I have ever seen one before!
This is the perfect time to watch out for them as they start to migrate from as far down as Victoria, to as far up as Queensland.
Another species to add to my Pine Crest bird list!
