This is a subject that is near and dear to my heart. Many old breeds have been altered from conformation and attributes that led to their development for a particular purpose. I see that, across all heavy breeds, breeders are selecting for "sporting" types to the detriment of breed type and genetic diversity. There are so many Cobs about nowadays that would look totally generic if you were to remove the hair and feather. The bones are lighter, the necks and backs longer, and they no longer, in many cases, have the substance that made them such powerful horses.

Reflections on what genetic studies of modern horses has told us and exploring the many ways in which we got to be where we are today.______________________...

Some of you may know that River sustained a very nasty wound to her near-side shoulder that was about 250mm long and very deep - there was quite a hole. Her stitches did not hold. We tried to obtain some alginate dressings (they are used extensively for severe wounds in people). However, to buy one large enough for her wound would have cost $160 for each daily application. Being a nerd, I asked my AI research tool for instructions on how to make them. It's very easy to do and incredibly affordable. The result is impressive to say the least. The formulas are more advanced than a standard alginate dressing, so if there is enough interest, I will put all the info together in a pdf so that it can be saved and printed

The locals have discovered the delights of quality oaten hay and are partying in the paddocks. Galahs and short billed corellas, they should be in fine fettle to have big families this coming spring :)
