This small, egg-shaped fruit has a thin green skin and a soft, fragrant flesh that sits somewhere between pineapple, guava, and mint: complex, aromatic, and completely unlike anything else in the fruit bowl.

The simplest way to eat a feijoa is to slice it in half and scoop the flesh straight out with a spoon.

Ripe fruit gives gently to pressure and has an intensely perfumed aroma. Beyond eating fresh, feijoas work beautifully in crumbles, cakes, smoothies, chutneys, and alongside strong cheeses on a board.
