Casbar's Kitchen and Garden

Casbar's Kitchen and Garden Casbar's Kitchen and Garden are about old fashioned things. During the second half of 2013 we added BBQ foods, cakes and sweets along with cold drinks etc.

Welcome to Casbar's Kitchen and Garden. This site should be dedicated to my Nanna. My grandparents were born in 1883 & 1893 and I had the pleasure of living with them for the first 12 years of my life. Both died at 83yrs of age. What a wonderful early education I had, "1954 till 1967". The good old days!!! I learn't how to wash in a copper with wash tubs and a wringer then
hang the clothes on the

old "T- prop" clothes line. Our bathroom was in the laundry, and on wash days the copper would be refilled
with clean water and reheated so we could all have a bath. Then there was the "chip heater" that we used to heat up the bath water if the copper wasn't in use that day. Now that, is something I really fell in love with. The massive big fire place that was in the kitchen, the vege garden up the back,
chokos growing all over the chook yard, fruit trees, grapevines, roses and flowers. Every Sunday a baked lunch, home made icecream, the corner shop just down the road,
Poppy sitting beside the wireless listening to the cricket or sitting out on the front verandah smoking his pipe.Then there was the pickles and jams, WOW what wonderful precious memories I have. I grew up with a love of the old fashioned things, and this is what I want to base the business on. Old fashioned flavour of pickles, butters, sauces and jams,
along with chrysanthemums and iris's and other plants. I am now enjoying reproducing them in one way or another. We have been selling our Jams and Pickles at markets around the Hunter Valley for a few years now
and have decided to take the business a step further with our new website. We hope you enjoy what we are doing and visit us regularly. Our Market schedule at this point in time is as follows;
Sobels Winery corner of Broke Road & Halls Road Pokolbin
2nd & 4th Saturdays including Sundays of the long weekends. Maitland Fair on the 1st Sunday of the month. Others have now been included on our market dates page. Casbar's Kitchen and Garden
is all about Old Fashioned kinds of things like ;

Recipes, Hints & Tips, Plant instructions, our range of preserves we have for sale,
kitchen accessories, garden accessories, and more we will add as time goes on. Our website will always be growing and evolving with new things
and we would love to hear any ideas you might have for including in our website. I would love you to have recognition for any of your entries, so please advise of a name we can add. We believe in good old fashioned honesty and that our customers' needs are of the utmost importance. We are committed to meeting those needs as best we can. As a result, a high percentage of our business is from repeat customers and referrals. We would welcome the opportunity to earn your trust and deliver you the best service we possibly can. We urge you to keep popping in to see what has been added since your last visit. Location:

One of the hardest things to find is handmade items for men.

At Handmade Hunter Markets, we have a wide variety of gifts that will please the most difficult to buy for males. Rhind House Of Timber can build him a bar; Heart has tie-dyed singlets, t-shirts and shorts in sizes from 0 to extra large; Rusty, Bent n Twisted has a wide assortment of metal sculptures: Rustic Handmade Timber Signs has personalised signs for his shed/man cave; a Seed has phone holders and ergonomic bottle openers; Stubby Holder Holders has the perfect holder for his stubby holders that will free up your kitchen drawer; while Earthwares has cuff-links for the corporate man in your life. Not pictured is Peppertree Soap House scrubby soap and shaver soap or RAWR. Organics beard oil. Besides all the food items, there really is something for men that is "handmade" that your special male(s) would love to receive as a gift this Christmas.

Tony will have leeks for $1.00 each and baby chats for $2.00kg. Pre cut gramma at $1.20kg. I've kept a few kgs of quinces for jam and we'll have a few kilos left over for $5.50kg and we have a box of theee most gorgeous flavoured passionfruit for 80c each. I had to lock these little beauties away as I raided 4 of them, he he he. You'll find these little beauties and more at Harvest Markets at Maitland tomorrow and what's left, at Paterson River Markets on Sunday. Be early in case we run out. Have a great weekend folks and remember that Harvest Markets are an ALL WEATHER, RAIN, HAIL AND SHINE MARKET.
