Next issue to fix...
Some bright spark decided to lay a trench full of old tyres to assist the flow of water out of the hill and down to the stream, however it has turned into somewhat of a chasm with the rushing water every winter.
This was all sand when we moved here so it has regenerated some ground cover a little, but I would like to amend this monstrosity and create some swales in the hill to catch and slow the water rather than letting it take the hill with it to the bottom as it has been doing. I have some native paperbarks that need planting all along here as well.

What to do with a paddock full of capeweed and leftover rain damaged hay?
Regenerate and reseed the pasture!
The general capeweedy-ness of my whole property has gone down significantly over the last 5 years, and this is probably the worst paddock left now.
I way overgrazed this section with the horses the first year and it was just dust and horse poo, and then with the cows the following couple of years its basically been a sacrificial area.
The poor capeweed has been doing its best to cover up the bare dirt and help bring nutrition back into balance.
It'll take a little while but hopefully with the extra mycelium in the partially composted hay that's been sitting in feed bags and all the oats and grass seeds it'll come back quite well next year. Meanwhile the bees are going crazy for capeweed flowers!

Those are 14hh horses behind Buddy and Honey. Nothing truly captures how small they are compared to regular beef cattle.

A spot of gardening to soothe the soul.
HA, or not, out of the two massive beds of 100+ garlic I planted seemingly too early, I may have a handful of singular round cloves 😂 but at least they're weeded now.
I have a third bed that was planted later doing much better.
🌿 Green and purple asparagus on its 3rd & 4th years cranking out some whopper ferns, I've left these ones to fuel next year's spears.
🐜 Broad beans are harbouring trillions of tiny black ants, but they're alive and making beans so I guess its fine. (I dont even like broad beans, I checked)
🌱 Peas bursting out all the pods, and a Madagascar bean that has survived winter and now on it's second spring, maybe it'll go another year if I remember to feed it...
🌽 Planted the first round of blue glass gem corn seedlings, hopefully they survive the mice and slugs🤞🏻
🪴 Silverbeet on it's 4th year now! Got some thiiiccc leathery leaves now but still does the job.
🥔 Still digging up potatoes wherever I put my hands in the ground, they just keep appearing 😂
🌻 Dug up a bed of potatoes and Jerusalem artichokes last weekend and replanted all the artichokes, maybe they'll actually flower this year.
🌾 More oats and grass in the gardens than out of them at the moment. I keep saying "I won't use hay as mulch this year..." 😏
