Yuna turned 2 and her hoomum threw a pawty at Campground Kitchen.

Her four-legged friends turned up to celebrate, eat cake and even have their pawtraits drawn by a live artist.

Honestly, we're not sure we've ever seen so much cuteness in one place.

Happy 2nd Birthday, Yuna! šŸ¾šŸŽ‚.iam.yuna

Our new cured salmon starter is served with handmade lavosh,Ā prepared this week by participants in our Community Kitchen program.

Curing fish is one of the oldest ways of preserving food.

Long before portable fridges, it helped campers keep food fresh on the road.

Camp food has come a long way!Ā

Available all weekend from 12pm 'til late. Book a table at www.campground.kitchen

A little glimpse behind the scenes of our new Community Kitchen pilot program with Duke Street Community House.

Campground Kitchen was always meant to be more than somewhere to eat.

This term, we quietly launched a pilot program giving people in our local community a chance to see what actually happens behind the scenes of a real restaurant.

Our first groups include participants from migrant and ESL backgrounds, bridging visas, and disability support groups from Melbourne’s west.

It’s still small and very much a pilot, but over the past few weeks participants have been learning kitchen prep, ordering and costings, setting up front of house, making some starters, pizzas and desserts, and getting an understanding of how a venue like ours runs day to day.

Later this year, participants will team up with mentors to help cater the AGM for Duke Street and get experience working on a real event.

We hope the program will create confidence, connection and pathways into hospitality.

Next term, we’ll run our second 8-week pilot program from 13th July on Mondays from 10am–1pm.
ļæ½Long term, we hope to train participants to work alongside chefs and mentors to cater community dinners here at Campground, prepare meals for locals doing it tough and expand catering with Happy Camper Pizza

Big thanks to Duke Street Community House and City of Maribyrnong for supporting the pilot project.

Mother’s Day Hacks
(from people who work it)

It’s the busiest day of the year for restaurants. So if you want to actually enjoy it, here’s what we’d do.

Skip Sunday altogether.
Book Thursday or Friday night, or Saturday lunch. Same mum. Way less chaos.

If you must do Sunday…
Book after 7:30pm. It’s quieter. No rush. No one hovering for your table.

Or go early. Like 11:30am early.
By the time you sit down, order a drink and settle in it’s basically lunch anyway.

Turn up on time!
Mother’s Day is one of the only days we really can’t hold tables. Every minute counts.

Don’t wing it. Walk-ins on Mother’s Day are… optimistic.

Be nice to staff. A lot of them are mums too.

Or, ignore all of this and roll the dice.
