Kia Ora, Welcome

I have been cooking for many years, and while it was never an Industry I intended to get into, it has given me many opportunity's. This page will be part blog - gives me somewhere else to post my food pictures, and an excuse (not that I really need one) to talk food. Send my questions if there's something food related you would like to know. And also, where I'll post upcoming w

orkshops as they become available. Workshops will be numbers driven, so if you interested make sure you register your interest. Due to current work commitments I won't be taking on any extra catering, but this could change in the future...

But Who Am I? My name is Natasha, usually go by Tash ( though its said "Tarsh"). I am a Kiwi, happy to have called Australia, particularly WA, home since 2008. I started in the hospitality industry working in a fish and chip shop in my teens and got my first restaurant job when I left school. I have had the pleasure of working the full range - cafes, resorts, hotels, taverns. Mostly in the kitchen, but enough front of house to have solid customer service knowledge. This experience has covered fine dining, buffets, catering, small event, large events, weddings etc etc. The best of these experiences has to be cooking an open air BBQ under the stars in the Kimberly. Pure Magic. I have been living in Bridgetown WA since 2012, and if you eat locally, chances are I've served/cooked for you. I have had the pleasure of working at several of the local establishments since moving here. I also have other artistic interests, and had the privilege of exhibiting at the inaugural Bridgetown Wearable Art exhibit in 2019 and hope to do so again soon. I have:
Cert 3 in Commercial Cookery ( that's the one that says I'm a qualified chef :P )
Cert 3 in Food and Beverage
Cert 3 in Basic Cookery
Cert 3 in Pastry ( Patisserie )
Current Responsible Service of Alcohol
Current Approved Managers ( also known as a Red Card )
Current Working with Children check
First Aid Cert Current
Covid19 Hygiene Officer Cert ( giant elephant in the room for Hospitality at the moment )
Mum - not sure what it qualifies me for, but it certainly has given me new appreciation for time management, patience, having fun and being silly

So, further to yesterdays spin on the spot video ๐Ÿ˜‰
This weekend I joined some friends for some much needed R and R in Perth at the Wine and Food show.
Ive been before, and Im always amazed at the sheer volume of producers and people who attend.
In addtion, we visited a number of eateries around Perth CBD and Northbridge (never get enough photos) including an amazing Japenese Curry place in the CBD where I tried sake for the very first time - not for me.
New friends where made, and I had the absolute pleasure of running into an old coworker from my Heron Island days. My my, Time has flowen.

While I am always on the lookout for inspiration for new dishes, time and time again the one thing I always take away from an eating experience is the service.
FOH have such an impact on a dineing experince whether its at a fine dineing restaurant or the small 5 table cafe serving bagels ( Highly recommned Lil Willys in Northbridge, best bagels, but the service ๐Ÿ‘Œ)
From that, I am mindful that the best places are always the ones were all staff are in sync to give the diner the experince they deserve.

Unpacking is complete and Im not totally broke ๐Ÿ˜…, now to begin the new school term.
Half way through the year already ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ
