Our last few deliveries of 2026 are now sold out

We've had to reduce numbers given the drought conditions

The good news is we've had some light rain over the past few days and some more to come, we hope... things are starting to look greener on Dandarriga!

We'll start up deliveries again on February 4th and 5th 2027

We have started supplementing with Anipro at Dandarriga - a molasses-based liquid protein, mineral, and vitamin supplement to help cattle make better use of the drier feed.

The end of year is fast approaching and we're selling out 😮

Our next available deliveries are December 3rd and 4th.

These will be the last deliveries of the year.

Deliveries will start again at the end of January or beginning of February 2027. We'll be sharing the 2027 delivery schedule next month.

Chilli con carne - a staple at home. We used a mix of red kidney and black beans this time. Some jalapeno peppers, onions and garlic. Paprika, cumin, salt and pepper.... topped it up with sour cream, avocado and coriander.. so much flavour 😋

I made a large pot of bolognese this week... a lot of it is being used for easy pasta dishes for school holiday meals. But since I'm trying to minimize my pasta consumption these days, I also made a blognese-filled butternut pumpkin:

1️⃣ Roasted half a pumpkin with a bit of olive oil, salt and pepper, cut-side-up for the pumpkin to caramelize on top;

2️⃣ Scraped off some of the roasted pumpkin flesh (not all!) and threw it into the bolognese pot;

3️⃣ Filled the pumpkin with warm bolognese;

4️⃣ Grated some parmesan and mozzarella cheese and added to the top;

5️⃣ Back into the oven for a few minutes for cheese to melt... served with a plain salad 😋

Our grass group met for its quarterly meeting yesterday. With drought forcing many of us to destock, yesterday’s conversations were difficult but necessary. Rob helped us work through what little or no rain could mean for our own herd—how many cattle we can realistically feed, what we can afford to spend on hay, pellets, licks and other supplements, and whether numbers need to fall further. Sharing the hard realities is humbling, but facing them openly gives us the benefit of the group’s experience. We’re still hoping for rain, of course, while turning yesterday’s discussion into a clear action plan for the months ahead.

We were also joined yesterday via Zoom by a LOAM BIO agronomist, who introduced Carbon Builder—a promising system that uses fungi to capture carbon and improve soil health in cropping systems. One farmer in our group plans to trial it, and we’ll be watching closely to see whether it could also have a place in our pasture systems.
