Hello hello. I know its been awhile since I have posted anything on this page.

Different stages in life happen and sometimes require you to take a bit of time out. I lost my Dad in July so I was spending a lot of time with him at the Sunshine coast.

But I'm back into my groove now.

So what do you do when you have an abundance of fresh home grown Roma tomatoes which is more than you can immediately use ???๐Ÿ…

Make beautiful crushed tomatoes ready to go in the freezer of course.
2.4 kilos in this batch.

Garlic paste - I use so much garlic in my cooking. I scored 500g peeled garlic cloves for a few bucks at the veggie shop and made it into garlic paste.

So easy to do. I put some in an ice cube silicone tray with each cube holding a good teaspoon of garlic paste. Popped it in the freezer and I'll break the frozen garlic cubes up and store in a zip lock bag for future use. I also got a good half a jar of paste which I popped in the fridge.

I did a double batch of this recipe.

Look at this delicious recipe I found on Cookidooยฎ: Garlic paste https://cookidoo.com.au/recipes/recipe/en-AU/r132065

Who doesn't like saving money - Uummm, that would be no one ๐Ÿ’ต

Today I made beautiful Quince paste. Coles have fresh quince for $1.98 per kilo. I grabbed some as they are seasonal and sometimes hard to find.

The cost to make this batch using only 4 quinces, sugar, lemon juice and water that made up 1860 grams of paste (they were huge and made a double batch of the recipe) was $11.22.

Now to buy a well known brand of Quince Paste will cost $6.30 per 100 grams wow ๐Ÿ˜ฒ that's $63.00 per kilo. If I was to buy the equivalent of what I made today in the supermarket, it would cost $117.18.

That's why I love my Thermomix. Plus this paste tastes fabulous with some Brie and crackers.

Varoma! Varoma! Varoma!

Cooked Silverside in the Varoma for dinner tonight - so tender and delicious. Threw fresh carrots and peas in with the silverside towards the end of cooking time. All in one dinner, winner winner. Cooked the sliced onions with my second TM and added them to Bechamel sauce using some of the onion water for extra flavour.

Hello Thermie friends. For those that have the TM6 this is a game changer.
Tonight I used the 'kettle' function to cook fresh carrots and broccoli after reading a post from Tanya Hulse who is a Thermomix consultant.
I was a bit sceptical as the blades still rotate and I thought the veggies would turn to mush. But they were cooked perfectly.
Give it a try - no need to input the cooking time as the Thermie does it all. I covered the carrots with cold water and popped the broccoli on top and selected the kettle mode and GO!
This machine never ceases to amaze me with its capabilities ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿณ

Yum Yum - I made a batch of Skinnymixers Gyoza from the new 'skinnyAsia' cook book this afternoon. So easy to put together.

I used the Thermomix slicer to finely shred the cabbage, it was a good finely cut texture.

Recipe says it will make 50 but I got 60 Gyoza and still have 300g for mixture to use, I need to buy some more wrappers.

I used a couple of gadgets that I found which are great. See photos and video.

1. I used a meatball maker mold to quickly make the mixture amounts that were consistently the same size. Worked very well.

2. I used an electric dumpling machine to put the Gyoza together. Makes the process quick and easy.

We will have some with dinner tonight ~ I'm sure everyone will enjoy them ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿณ

My Thermomix Challenge

Feeling like Ricotta Gnocchi for dinner tonight but have no ricotta, so I made my own.

So easy to make - 2lt of UHT whole milk and 80ml of white vinegar and thatโ€™s it. Thereโ€™s something satisfying make meals from scratch.

Ricotta

The Gnocchi is just as easy as the cheese. Parmesan cheese, โ€˜00โ€™ flour, ricotta cheese, salt and nutmeg. Too easy.

Iโ€™ll dish this up for dinner with delicious homemade Bolognaise sauce which I make in bulk and freeze.

Bon appetite ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿณ

Hello friends, just a quick question (maybe not so quick ๐Ÿค”) - are you USING your Varoma?

If not I ask, Why not?

You can create some amazing meals using the Varoma.

This morning I bought a plump fresh chicken and steamed it in the Varoma. I always dust a little bit of Herb and Garlic Seasoning all over the chicken to add a bit of flavor. Set the Varoma for 1hr 15mins and walked away.

The chicken was cooked beautifully and smelt divine. I just pulled all the flesh off the bone, discarding the skin. Popped it back in the Thermomix and shredded the chicken for 4 seconds (yes! only 4 seconds) on speed 4 in reverse.

I now have 660 grams of fresh shredded chicken ready to use in sandwiches, wraps, pizza topping, enchiladas, nachos, tacos, Asian wraps. So many possibilities.

I also have saved MONEY ๐Ÿ’ต Lets face it, the cost of living increases every day. I paid $8.67 for the fresh chicken and now have 660 grams to use. To buy shredded chicken at Woolworths it will cost $27.50 per kilo - for 660g it is $18.15. So I have saved $9.48 - all for about 15 minutes of my time using the Thermomix.

So please start using your Varoma.
Search Cookidoo for recipes. The Basic Cookbook has a guide to steaming vegetables, fruit, fish and seafood, and meat on page 317.
