Smoke n' Sounds Barbecue

Smoke n' Sounds Barbecue Competition BBQ team from Brisbane, Australia. Perfecting the art of low and slow smoked American barbeque! We love Brisket, Ribs, Pork. Lamb and Chicken!

Smokin’ Sounds is a competition BBQ team from Brisbane. After spending several months traveling through the USA in 2000 and again in 2007, team captain David Toomey, fell in love with ‘Low and Slow BBQ’ and wanted to try out his own version back home in Australia to share with his mates how great meat can really taste. The team first got together 5 years ago at the Smokin’ Sounds backyard live mus

ic festival of the same name in August 2010 where it cooked 5 briskets and 80 racks of ribs to feed the masses. Remaining members of the team interchange between Reuben Priestley, Heath Shonhan, Ben Armstrong and Michael Toomey. The Smokin’ Sounds team competed in their first comp at Bangalow in 2014 and then the Port Macquarie BBQ Wars in 2015, but it wasn’t until the Brisbane Low and Slow Festival and Burleigh BBQ Competition where they had some real success - winning Reserve Grand Champion at both events. Beginning with a simple Hark Tri Fire smoker, the Smokin’ Sounds boys have added an old Yoder 640 a Webber Kettle and recently a Karubecue (KBQ) to their kit. The team’s favourite cut is the Brisket because it’s both very challenging and extremely rewarding when done well! The ‘sounds’ component is the winning ingredient as the team are known to cook to the rhythm of good blues music to accompany their smoking. https://www.facebook.com/smokinsoundsbbq
