“Mummy, we need to let the farmer children know that we care”
Imagine what we could acheive, if every class in Brisbane, took on the challenge to put together a box for a drought affected child of the same age and included letters written by each student? Imagine, what it would feel like for a young child, who has had to brave one of the longest drought in history, to open that box- a box filled with tokens of love and letters of hope from children the same age as you?
Inspired by my young son, who said to me “Mummy, I want to let the boys and girls on the farms know that I care.” I’ve taken on the challenge to make his idea a reality. So I need you help, share this page, tell your teachers and early educators that you want your class to be a part of this challenge. Register here.
Drought affected families of Australia have shown so much courage and resilience in the years without rain. Through my work, I teach workplace leaders that an essential element of Resilience is Social Support. This challenge is Social Support in action! By hand writing a letter and including a stamped self-address envelope, you are reaching out and letting our farmers know they are not alone, that they have people who care.
