The Original Langos Hungarian

The Original Langos Hungarian The best Lángos in Brisbane! We are at our weekly Markets:
Fri, Sat & Sun Eat Street Markets
Rockle Once people try the Lángos they come back for more.

Lángos, this is traditional Hungarian Bread, dates back to the Huns it was easy and a fast meal they could made it on the move and could be stored without going off. This made it their main source of food on the move and the rest of their food came from pillaging and raiding the towns they came across. Today Lángos is served as a quick snack between meals and it is well known in Eastern Europe as

a delicious alternative to fast food. Lángos is sold in most of the European countries not just in Hungary. I have managed to gain repeat business after the first time of setting up a market stall at all of the markets. We use all the old country recipes dating back to our grandparents with an Australian twist. Back home they use lard to cook the Lángos which give it its unique flavour, they need the fat to survive the harsh winters but here in Australia would be a recipe for no customers after the second week as no one would survive it. Instead of lard we use a pure vegetable oil with only 0.6gm of Trans Fat this gives our Lángos a light non-oily flavour and lets the garlic bread speak for its own. Lángos can be toped with Cheese and Sour Cream plus your choice of sauce we call it “The Hungarian with the Lot”. The Lepény dates back to great grandparents when they used to make bread at home and it had to be left to cool before eating as it would sit ones stomach if consumed hot. Our so smart grannies came up with this dish that can cook fast than fead to the kids while hot than told to bugger off and play till the bread cooled. We stuff this dish with Spinach, Cheese, Mushroom and Bacon but one can use whatever left overs are in the fridge. Palacsinta originated in Transylvania and it is a herb pancake, this dish is only served this way in Transylvania and if you would ask for one in Hungary you’d end up with a beautiful fresh crepe with jam, sugar or chocolate sauce. We fill the dow with Shallots, Dill, Chives, Basil, Feta and Tasty Cheese than hammer it with an old style iron till tin on the BBQ than serve hot. Option for extras are Mushroom or Bacon, for the real adventurous add both plus chilly for “The Transylvanian Special”.
