Urban Utilities

Urban Utilities We’re responsible for delivering clean, safe drinking water and wastewater services to Brisbane, Ipswich, Lockyer Valley, Somerset and Scenic Rim.

You can get in touch with us on Facebook from 8 am to 5 pm weekdays. At the heart of everything we do is genuine care: For each other, for our customers and communities, and for the environment. We’re there when our customers need us – whether it’s a simple shower or flush of a toilet; major infrastructure works or new residential developments. Our head office is in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane, but

our employees work all over SEQ - including at our SAS Laboratory in Darra, field-based depots in Eagle Farm, Acacia Ridge and Bundamba, and wastewater treatment plants located across our region. G’day from our own backyard! 👋🏻

We’re so fortunate to live and serve across our five incredible regions – Brisbane, Ipswich, Lockyer Valley, Somerset, and Scenic Rim. Five of our local legends shared their favourite spots in SEQ.

For every beautiful view or stretch of scenic travelling, remember, there’s a network of pipes, pumps and treatment plants connecting us all together underground.

Happy Queensland Day! ☀️ Tell us about your favourite spot in SEQ in the comments. 👇🏻

UPDATE: 4PM Thursday 4 June

⚠ This advice has been lifted. ⚠

The signs will be taken down at public access points in the coming days.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while we complete this once-in-a-generation renewal of the Bulimba-Hamilton Siphon.
-----------
**Update, 29 May 2026 11.30am**
Important advice: Please continue to temporarily avoid contact with part of the river between Vic Lucas Park at Bulimba and Colmslie Beach Reserve at Murarrie. The advice will remain in place over the weekend.

A wastewater release has occurred due to heavy rain during a critical project. Activities such as swimming, wading, rowing, kayaking or fishing should be avoided in the impacted area.

We also urge everyone to always follow the advice of authorities to avoid contact with waterways during and after heavy rain.

Scenic Rim Eat Local Month is almost here, and we’re thrilled to celebrate the region we’re proud to call home.

From lush rolling farms to vibrant markets and family-run producers, Scenic Rim is truly one of South East Queensland’s most extraordinary places to live, explore, and savour.

And at the heart of it all? Water! The quiet, essential ingredient to the lifestyle we love!

We can’t wait to share the stories of the amazing farmers, producers and small businesses we’re working with. Stay tuned as we celebrate their journey, passion, and the produce they bring to your table.

UPDATE 22/5/26, 7.15 PM:

Following recent sampling of water beyond the active alert zone, the current temporary river alert area has been extended as a precaution.

The elevated results follow significant rainfall earlier this week, which affected our network and increased flows through the system.

FOR THE CURRENT ALERT: Please avoid contact with part of the Brisbane River between the Hawthorne side of the river (opposite Brisbane Powerhouse) to Colmslie Beach Reserve at Murarrie.

We’ll carry out further water sampling and notify the community once the advice has been lifted.
