Newcastle City Farmers Market brings together local farmers and producers just like markets of days gone by. We started 20 years ago in a field in Morpeth, the market quickly grew to be known as the Fine Food Market® when it moved to Honeysuckle and then to it's home ground at the Newcastle Showground....

You get to chat to the

farmer, find out where your food is made, how to cook it and even taste test while you shop in the pavilions and around the village green atmosphere of the showground. Can you really afford and trust online delivery systems that say they are an online farmers market? Wrong order, late delivery, no delivery, forgot half your order, vegetable and fruit old etc etc. Newcastle City Farmers Market is now on most Sundays, regardless of the weather, at the Newcastle Showground,Griffiths Road, BROADMEADOW, NSW 2292. An Overwhelming Response for Maddi & Jeremy

To our incredible Newcastle City Farmers Market family, we are completely blown away.

Over the last few days, you have shown exactly what community means.

The outpouring of love, messages, and offers of help for Maddi, Jeremy, and their boys after the devastating fire has been nothing short of incredible.

We have an important update from the family.

Maddi and Jeremy are deeply moved by everyone's kindness. They want to let everyone know that they are not seeking cash donations, so a GoFundMe page will not be set up.

Instead, to help them feed their four boys and prepare for their new baby, they are incredibly grateful to receive gift cards and practical vouchers. This allows them to buy exactly what they need, when they need it, as they begin to rebuild.

"🚨 HEARTBREAK IN OUR MARKET FAMILY: Let’s Wrap Our Arms Around Maddi & Jeremy & Their Boys🚨"

To our beautiful Newcastle City Farmers Market family, who travel from all corners of the Hunter Valley to be together each week.

If you have walked through our markets, you have likely shared a smile with Maddi and Jeremy. They are the heart and soul of our community—not just as loyal faces who support our growers every single week, but as two of the gentlest, most selfless souls you could ever meet.

Many of you will also know them as the generous hearts behind The Gump Farm at Millers Forest. They opened up their beautiful farm completely for free, creating a magical space where local families could come to play with the animals, walk the grounds, and make precious memories together.

They have spent years pouring love into our community and asking for absolutely nothing in return.

Earlier this week, their world was shattered. In a matter of terrifying moments, a devastating house fire took everything. Their home, their belongings, the safe haven they built for their four beautiful young boys—gone.

Reduced to ashes.

Maddi and Jeremy are currently navigating this living nightmare while raising their four sons and preparing to welcome a brand-new baby into the world. Now, they are standing in the ruins of the life they built, and it is our turn to wrap our arms tightly around them.

We want to make sure this family doesn't have to worry about how they will feed their children. We are organizing market vouchers from our stallholders to ease just a fraction of their heavy burden. No parent should have to look at their children and wonder how to put fresh food on the table after losing everything.

Every single voucher, no matter how small, means one less worry for them as they try to look toward the future and rebuild from scratch.

Newcastle City Farmers Market is open Sunday 26th July from 7.00am till 1.00pm!!

The moment your toast has been waiting for… Adams Avocados are BACK! 🎉

Their brand-new season harvest is officially getting picked off their trees and hitting the markets on Sunday!
We’re talking buttery, rich, creamy goodness—picked at peak perfection and ready for your morning smash, weekend Guacamole, or straight-up spooning out of the skin (no judgment here! 😉).

Here's a couple of ideas to get you back in the swing of things....,

1. Ultimate Morning Smash Base:
Toast thick sourdough bread.
Mash: Fork-crush one avocado with lemon juice, salt, and black pepper.
Top: Add crumbled feta, red pepper flakes, and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil.

2. Classic Weekend Guacamole Mash:
Coarsely mash two avocados in a bowl.
Mix: Stir in finely diced red onion, fresh coriander, and minced jalapeño.
Season: Squeeze in fresh lime juice and add sea salt to taste.

3. Five-Minute Avocado Lime Dressing Blend:
Whisk one avocado, 60ml olive oil, 2 tablespoons lime juice, and a handful of coriander.
Thin: Add 2 tablespoons of water to reach your desired thickness.
Serve: Drizzle over fresh summer salads, grilled chicken, or fish tacos.

Hello Hunter Valley,

Newcastle City Farmers Market is back this Sunday 19th July fully loaded at Newcastle Showgrounds.

Our usual time of 7.00am till 1.00pm....

This post we are featuring one of our long time( 18 years) farmers at Newcastle City Farmers Market - Chris and Sue Harris from Bulga Oranges

BULGA ORANGES

Their fruit trees were planted in the 1920’s by my Chris' grandfather. His mother and father then took over after that, with Chris Harris starting to work on the farm when he was 16.

Chris then met Sue his future wife and they married in 1980. The kids would soon come along in 184, 1987 and 1989.

Both Chris and Sue Harris have worked solely on the farm from then on, until now producing, citrus to supply juice factories, regional market at Sandgate, and now the Newcastle City Farmers Market for the last 18 years.

We supply locals with a fresh product we handpick days before, so always fresh. We love having different fruit like Jaboticaba berries, Cherry Guava, Pineapple Guava, Pomelo’s, Pomergranates, Persimmons, Walnuts (70 yr old tree), cumquats.

Their Navel and Valencia oranges are known for their sweet juicy flavours and are a regular seasonal favorite for locals and visitors in the Hunter Region.

Bulga Oranges have a great following of loyal customers who they sell to every week - Chris and Sue have made many good friends.

Bulga Oranges are the only major citrus producer left in the Hunter Valley.

They also sell eggs from “The Golden Egg Farm”, who is Chris' cousins eggs and their farm is at Bunnan near Scone. They are pasture grazed, moved from paddock to paddock, live in a chook caravan. They are so popular with their customers.

Robert Jones (MEDOWIE) and Chris McNamara (SINGLETON) have HUGE amounts of just dug up Sebago, Dutch Cream and chat (cocktail/baby) potatoes.

You can find these growers next to the demountable toilets near the main carpark - ATM area.
