Provincial Pastures Mixed use natural polyculture farm and nursery. Advanced Native and Deciduous Tree farm.

A BIT ABOUT US

Provincial Pastures is a mixed use, diverse polyculture farm, dairy and nursery in transition to full organic and biodynamic food and dairy production. The farm and nursery is on a 140 acre property in the picturesque Bega Valley adjoining the Brogo River. We work with nature to produce chemical and hormone free, nutritionally dense foods whilst creating resilient environmental systems. Pasture raised poultry, eggs, grass fed meats, dairy products, seasonal produce all grow on our natural farm with respect for the animals and land we steward. We provide on farm experiences (farm tours and meet the farmer with lunch) to share our inspiring landscape and what we're doing. THE END GAME - what we really, really want and what we aim to demonstrate:

- ecological alternatives to farm enterprise
- income diversification options
- best practice land and water conservation management and enhancement principles
- resilient environmental systems using minimal inputs
- regenerative / restorative agricultural practices
- healthy and diverse pasture housing grass fed, free range livestock
- responsibly grown food and animals
- paddock to plate - local supply of the highest quality, organic, nutritionally dense grass fed meats, produce and foods
- local and slow food
- environmental education and farm tours
- continual improvement

What a buzz seeing it all come to fruition! 7 years of rehabilitating denuded pastures and gullies and enhancing the landscape is progressively realising it's worth. Our accountant sees the credit card bills and loses his mind......this is however a labour of love and recognition that that the planet is in a tricky predicament, and our actions require a much bigger picture.

Continual reinvestment in the property and the vision sees us in the position to contribute to local food security for our team and community. The fabulous Master Charlton has been breeding sheep, cows and chickens and they are uber happy! 'Fell' the Mareema oversees all with gusto. Vegetable production is at the seed collection stage and organic vege are delicious (having already provided hundreds of meals for our team) and a serious 'watch this space'. YUM on another level

We've taken the metal hoops from hothouses (the only thing that survived after the 2020 NYE fires at our place that burnt and was lost at Wandella....fully...another conversation....). This is a momentus deal for us personally as we're re-purposing them here

So the 'digging pics' are the start of planting over 700 fruit trees and 300 Oak trees inoculated with trufffles (again via left of centre measures) and several hundred (??? Mst C lost count....) deciduous shade and shelter giving trees that will improve soil and air quality. And that's just this year. So the pics of sticks in the grass are all those trees.....sooooooo cool. Updates, of course, to follow :)
