đź’› AN UPDATE FROM MY KITCHEN đź’›
Many of you have noticed that I've been quiet over the past several months, and I feel like I owe everyone an explanation.
Late last year, I thought I was about to achieve a dream.
In November, I placed an offer on a café close to home. It seemed perfect — a steady daytime income serving local workers, while also giving me a commercial kitchen space to grow my catering business around my family of four children.
By December, I had paid a substantial amount towards the purchase. I met with the owner, walked through the café, started designing new menus, planning renovations, sourcing suppliers, and preparing to move in.
I packed up the little kitchen that had supported my business for the previous two years, ready to begin an exciting new chapter.
Unfortunately, things didn't go to plan.
Questions about the sale went unanswered, important information wasn't provided, and communication became increasingly difficult. By February, it became clear that the purchase would not proceed, despite significant funds already having been paid.
Not only did I lose a substantial amount of hard-earned savings, but I also lost my workspace and ability to operate. Existing catering bookings had to be cancelled, including a wedding during peak season. Staff lost their jobs, and I found myself struggling to even answer enquiries.
Since then, I have been pursuing the matter through the courts in an attempt to recover my money. While there is still a long road ahead, another hearing is scheduled for August.
The financial loss was devastating, but the emotional impact was even harder. What was supposed to be the biggest step forward for my business became one of the most challenging periods of my life.
To everyone whose messages, enquiries, and bookings I didn't respond to — I'm genuinely sorry. I wasn't ignoring you. I was simply trying to navigate a situation that left me feeling completely defeated.
But slowly, I'm finding my way back.
Thanks to the generosity of a friend who is allowing me access to their commercial kitchen when available, I am now starting to accept small catering orders again.
So if you've been thinking about booking catering for a birthday, family gathering, work lunch, sporting event, morning tea, or special occasion, I would absolutely love your support as I rebuild.
Every order helps me take one more step towards finding a permanent kitchen space to call my own again.
Thank you to everyone who has checked in, supported me, encouraged me, and believed in me through this difficult time. It means more than you'll ever know.
❤️ Catering orders are now slowly reopening.
đź“© Please send me a message to discuss your event.
Here's to rebuilding, one booking at a time.
One last thing, f**k you Leeanne.
