Freely Farm Miniature Galloway & Square Meater Cattle

Freely Farm Miniature Galloway & Square Meater Cattle Welcome to Freely Farm, where passion meets purpose in breeding registered Miniature Galloways and Square Meater cattle!

Stay tuned for updates, adorable calf moments, and insights into the world of our beloved cattle (& our dogs) in sunny Qld. From once barren soil used for small crops to a flourishing haven—this is our journey. When we purchased this farm, we saw potential beneath the eroded and compacted soil, a potential to restore and bring the ecosystem back into balance. Now, with the gentle graze of Miniatur

e Galloways and the charm of Square Meater cattle, we're cultivating a sustainable haven. Join us in revitalizing the land, one hoof at a time, and witness the transformation as we breathe life back into the earth.

Someone went on a little adventure and got himself very lost… 🐮🤦‍♀️

We were woken in the early hours by this little bloke calling out for his mum. Somehow, he’d wandered into a paddock a long way from where she was.

Trying to convince a newborn calf which direction he needed to go in the dark wasn’t happening, so Mike eventually gave up and carried him all the way back. 😂

The best part? That moment when he finally spots Mum again. ❤️

Not quite the peaceful night on the farm we had planned!

Well, someone didn’t get the memo that spring isn’t quite here yet! 🐮🌱

Our first spring calf has arrived ❤️ A lovely surprise to kick off calving season.

Xylia my chunky little heifer. At 3.5mths old there must be something good in that milk.

Now this is what happens when you get lead astray by Miniature Galloways. Unfortunately these two somehow followed Xylo & Ximena into the next paddock under the electric fence last night then weren’t game enough to get back.

Watch Xylo top left. Early morning, the herd’s moving down towards the gate to be let into the next paddock. Not Xylo, he is still so small he goes straight under the electric fence. Why follow when you know a shortcut. 😂

Sanity is such a good mum. When we move the herd, she always puts herself between her calf and the electric fence. The calves tend to line up with the earth wire, so they don't get a bite. It also saves me having to chase them all over the paddock when they decide to wander through it! The older cows know the routine, and the calves learn quickly by following Mum. 🐄❤️
