Our little farmer has discovered sweet potato hunting. 👩‍🌾🍠 Every time he finds one, he runs straight to Mum to show off his treasure. And the mini ones? Brush off the dirt and straight into his mouth! 😂

We planted a few sprouts last year and simply let them grow wild. No fertiliser. No irrigation. Just rain, sunshine and plenty of freedom. 🌱

When we took apart and cleared out the collapsed garden bed, sweet potatoes kept turning up — big, small, crooked and wonderfully wonky. Definitely not supermarket-perfect, but naturally grown and full of surprises.

And underneath, the cardboard, banana leaves and wood we buried had mostly broken down, leaving beautiful dark soil for the next crop. 🍅 🥦 🥕 🫜 🌽 🥔 🫛 🍓 🫑 🧄

Woke up at nearly 7 AM to my kid tugging at my quilt, but at 8°C, I was physically glued to the bed 🥶… Fast forward to 9 AM, it was already 20°C. Jacket off, T-shirt on! By midday, we hit a warm 26°C. 🎢☀️

That’s spring in Bundaberg for you. Cool mornings give way to warm golden days, and within just a few hours, you can feel the season turning. The farm is officially waking up. Our mango trees are covered in fluffy blossoms, and flowers are bursting everywhere! 🥭🌸✨

For growers, the changing seasons are more than just changes in temperature. They are nature’s calendar. Spring, summer, autumn, winter… each brings its own rhythm, its own work, and its own gifts. 🌿🌏💚

Nothing beats that crisp, fresh air after a quick sun shower — it feels like the farm is already whispering to spring. ✨💜

Has anyone tried adding Holy Basil to pickles before? 🪻🌿🫙

While making a batch of pickled vegetables with our homemade mango vinegar, I had a spontaneous idea to toss in some Holy Basil flowers and leaves.

What a surprise! The tangy vinegar paired beautifully with the cooling, minty notes of Holy Basil.

Definitely one of those happy accidents worth repeating. 😋
