Well, we can finally share the news! 🎉

Imbibis Craft Distillery has been named a finalist in the University of Southern Queensland Sustainability category at the 2026 Ipswich Chamber of Commerce Business Awards! 💚

We’re incredibly proud to have our sustainability efforts recognised — from recycling and repurposing, to reducing waste and continually looking for better ways to do what we do. As a small business, we know that lots of little changes can add up to make a real difference.

A huge thank you to the judges for their time and consideration, and congratulations to all of the other finalists. We know there are some amazing businesses doing great things across our region, and we wish everyone the very best of luck for the awards night on 10 October. 🥂

We’ll be dusting ourselves off, putting on our fancy clothes and looking forward to celebrating with everyone on the night! 😂

Thank you to the Ipswich Chamber of Commerce for once again shining a light on the wonderful businesses we have in our region.

♻️ Our recycled candles are BACK! 🕯️

You’ve been asking, and they’re finally back in stock! 🎉

Our recycled candles are made using our empty spirit bottles, giving them a second life rather than sending them off to be recycled.

They’re a lovely little piece of Imbibis to take home — and once the candle has finished, you’re left with a beautiful container ready for another purpose.

So if you’ve been waiting for one, now’s your chance! 🥰

Available from the cellar door Friday 10am–6pm.

Things we hear ALL THE TIME at the distillery… 😂

After a big week at EKKA, we thought we’d share a few of the things we hear regularly at the Imbibis cellar door.

🍸 “I’m not really a gin drinker.”
That’s okay. We have 16 different reasons to change your mind. 😉

🥃 “Do you make anything other than gin?”
Why yes, we do! Rum, brandy, agave spirits, whisky and liqueurs might all be found lurking around the distillery.

👃 “Can I smell it?”
Absolutely. In fact, we encourage it. Our spirits are designed to be explored with all your senses.

😋 “I’ll just have a little taste.”
Famous last words… 😂

And one of our favourites:

“I only came in for a look.”

We hear that one quite a lot.

Funny how a “look” sometimes turns into a tasting… and occasionally a bottle going home. 😉

Not every Dad is a gin Dad… 🥃

And that’s okay. We won’t judge. 😂

With Father’s Day just around the corner, we thought it was time to talk about some of the other spirits on the shelf at Imbibis.

🥃 Heritage City Rum — rich, warming and made right here in Ipswich. For the Dad who likes his rum with a little history.

🍇 VSOP Shiraz Brandy — smooth, sophisticated and made from Queensland Shiraz. For the Dad who appreciates the finer things in life.

🌵 Licor de Agave Reposado — our Australian take on agave, rested in French oak for eight months. For the Dad who likes to try something a little different.

Three spirits. Three very different personalities.

So whether Dad is a rum man, a brandy man or an adventurous agave man, we might just have something to make his Father's Day a little more spirited. 😉

And if Dad is a gin man… well, we've got plenty of those too! 😂

Father’s Day is Sunday 6 September, so there’s still time to find his bottle.

EKKA 2026 is done and dusted. WE SURVIVED! 😂

EKKA 2026 is officially done and dusted, and we’re finally back home at the distillery.

What a week!

We’ve met so many wonderful people, poured an awful lot of gin, talked about our little distillery until our voices nearly gave out… and probably consumed enough coffee to keep a small still running. ☕😂

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by the Imbibis stand at the Woolworths Pavilion, said hello, sampled our spirits, bought a bottle or simply came for a chat.

We loved meeting you all. ❤️

Now it’s time to put our feet up for approximately five minutes before getting back to the serious business of making spirits!

The stills are calling, the cellar door needs some love and there’s a fair bit of restocking to do.

EKKA was brilliant. Being home is pretty good too. 🥰

And just like that… EKKA 2026 is done! 🎡

What a week it has been. We’ve talked gin, rum, brandy and whisky, met some wonderful people, poured a LOT of tastings and hopefully introduced a few more people to the little distillery in Bundamba.

But the best part? The people who stopped by to say hello.

So many familiar faces from Ipswich made the trip in to see us, along with visitors from all over Queensland. Every wave, conversation, purchase and “Oh hello, I know you guys!” made the long days worthwhile.

A huge thank you to everyone who came to see us, supported us and made EKKA 2026 such a memorable one.

Now… back to the distillery.
And possibly a little sleep. 😴😂

🌵 Meet the spirit that makes the Gin Lady question her loyalty to gin…

Our Licor de Agave Reposado is a little different from the other spirits in our range — and there's a good story behind why you'll never see the word tequila on the bottle.

First things first: yes, it's made from agave. 🌵

But here's the important bit…

Agave spirit isn't automatically tequila.

Tequila is a protected Mexican spirit with strict rules around where and how it can be produced. To be called tequila, it must be made in designated regions of Mexico and comply with the regulations governing tequila production.

Our Licor de Agave is proudly made right here in Queensland, so while it shares agave as its starting point, it cannot legally be called tequila.

And honestly, we're quite happy to call it what it is — Licor de Agave.

Our Reposado style is aged for six months in French oak, giving it a beautiful depth and warmth that makes it rather lovely to sip… or use in a cocktail.

Which brings us to our latest discovery…

Apparently, the Gin Lady has been enjoying quite a few Tequila Sunrises lately. 👀🍹

Well… technically they're Licor de Agave Sunrises when they're made with our spirit, but we're not sure that has quite the same ring to it!

Either way, Licor de Agave + orange juice + grenadine = a very pretty way to start an evening. 🌅

How well do you know Imbibis? 👀

You might know us for our gin, rum, brandy and other artisan spirits, but there are probably a few things about Imbibis that you don’t know…

So here are 5 things you might not know about us:

🥃 1. We started in a 150m² facility in Marburg.
Back in 2019, Imbibis was a very different little business. We’ve since moved to our 250m² Bundamba distillery, where two commercial stills now keep Jason rather busy!

🌿 2. We really do make everything ourselves.
Our spirits aren’t made somewhere else and put into an Imbibis bottle. Jason is our Chief Distiller and is hands-on with the production of every batch.

💜 3. The colour of our Jacaranda Gin comes from butterfly pea flowers.
No artificial colour here. And when you add tonic, that beautiful purple gin transforms before your eyes. A little bit of botanical magic!

🏛️ 4. Our Heritage City Rum has a little piece of Ipswich history behind it.
It was the first commercial rum produced in Ipswich since 1905 — more than a century between drinks!

🎨 5. Creativity is a big part of Imbibis.
We’re not just interested in what's in the bottle. From the design and presentation of our spirits to the artwork you'll find around our cellar door, we love making things that engage the senses.

And perhaps that's why our motto has always been:

Surrender to your senses.

While some of you are enjoying a quiet Monday, we’re heading into Day 3 of EKKA — and our Jacaranda Gin is leading the way. 💜

There’s something rather satisfying about a bottle of gin sitting at the end of a very long corridor, especially when you know there’s a busy day waiting at the other end!

We’ll be at the Woolworths Pavilion for the next few days, so if you’re heading to EKKA, come and say hello. 👋

And a little heads-up for our local friends: our cellar door will be closed this Friday, 14 August. With the whole team needed on deck, we’re concentrating our efforts there for the week.

Normal cellar door service resumes next week — and we’ll hopefully have recovered by then! 😂
