Long Paddock Eggs Bungendore Producing delicious quality eggs and restoring our farm soils by the power of the chook! Our current Stocking density is 185 hens per hectare.

We have started this venture to provide top-quality pasture raised eggs, and also to improve our paddocks and the quality of the soil in our pastures. Chooks in mobile sheds fertilise and scratch up the top soils as they are moved around the paddocks, making the soil more seed and grass friendly. Chooks farmed this way are able to live with the way chooks like to live. Plenty of fresh grass, shade

, leaf litter to scratch in, dust baths and safe shelter. Our Maremma dogs and portable electric fencing also provide protection, so the chooks can get up with the sun and roost when they like as part of
nature’s natural rhythm

These girls are nearly through a natural molt ( they shed old feathers to grow new ones) and will come back into form before winter .

Everyday after laying, the girls go out for a stroll and some scratching around outside. They put themselves to bed at dark.
