We would love your input with something important.

Ellie is turning 6 months this week which means we're about to venture into the world of solid foods. As you can imagine, working in a fresh food shop means the team have some very strong opinions about what her first food should be.

Jason has already put his hand up for mango. Passionately and at length. As Jason does.
But we want to know what Busselton thinks. What was your little one's first food, or what would you recommend? Drop it in the comments, we are genuinely taking notes and Jason will be reading every single response with great interest.

We need to talk about what just landed on our shelves because honestly it stopped us in our tracks.

Dragon fruit.

And before anyone asks, yes, it tastes as good as it looks. Sweet, mild and refreshing with that gorgeous deep pink flesh inside. It's the kind of fruit that makes you feel like you're eating something really special without needing to do anything to it at all.

Just slice it in half, scoop it out and enjoy.

That's it.

We don't get these in very often so come in while they're here, they won't last long and frankly they shouldn't because they're that good.

Spring has arrived and so have these.

Heavenly Premium strawberries, proudly grown right here in Western Australia and genuinely living up to their name. Jason told us back in winter that September was going to be the month and as usual he was absolutely right. We're not going to tell him that though.

These came in this week and the colour alone should be enough to convince you. Deep red all the way through, sweet and real spring strawberries the way they're supposed to be.

Now the big question....

Strawberries with cream
Or
straight from the punnet?

Drop your answer below. Jason has a very strong opinion on this and I'll let him know your opinions from the comments.

Hands up if you know what all of these are.

We've got some brilliant but slightly mysterious looking things on our shelves right now that we think deserve a proper moment.

Kohlrabi, celeriac and silverbeet.

Three vegetables that you won't easily find at your average supermarket but are sitting right here in Busselton waiting for you.
Kohlrabi tastes like a mild, sweet broccoli stem and is incredible raw in slaws or roasted.

Celeriac looks like something from another planet but roasted or mashed it's one of the most underrated vegetables going.

Silverbeet is the workhorse of the leafy green world, simply throw it in anything and it'll make it better.

Jason is on hand if you want to know more. He always has more to say. Come in and have a look. Your shopping basket is about to get a lot more interesting.

Friday! We made it, another day closer to spring.

Fresh delivery is landing this afternoon so the shelves are about to get a real restock just in time for the weekend.

Tony has also been in since the early hours, and after this week's Portuguese tart situation we've been assured he's made significantly more this time. You know who you are Busselton. 😄

Whatever you're planning this weekend come in and grab what you need. We'd love to see you.

Have a brilliant weekend everyone.

I'm just over here trying to resist keeping on top of quality control in the cake cabinet.

Unpopular opinion and I'm fully prepared to defend this one.

Breakfast food is acceptable at any time of day.

A bacon and egg toastie at 6pm is a completely valid life choice. Pancakes for dinner? Absolutely. A big bowl of porridge at 9pm because it's cold and you can't be bothered?

Nobody is stopping you.

We stock everything you need for a real breakfast at Western Growers Fresh. The eggs, fresh bread, bacon, the works.

No judgement on what time of day you're making it.

Drop a comment below if you agree. Or disagree. Either way we want to know where Busselton stands on this very important issue

Quick update on Tony's Portuguese tarts from this week.

Gone.
Completely gone.
We restocked.
Also gone.

At this point we're just going to assume Tony needs to make more.
A lot more.

Consider it noted Tony.

Tony was in early again this morning and we're not entirely sure he ever actually goes home.

Look at what came out of that kitchen today.

The cabinet is absolutely stacked right now.

Portuguese tarts, cinnamon scrolls, croissants, pain au chocolat, savoury muffins and that orange cake in the middle which deserves its own moment.

This is what Tuesday morning looks like at Western Growers Fresh and we think you should come and experience it for yourself.

Coffee's on. Tony's been busy. What more do you need.

We asked Izzy, one of our team here at Western Growers Fresh, to show us her absolute favourite thing from our cafe.
Spoiler alert, she did not hold back.

A chicken salad wrap and one of Tony's brownies. Honestly not a bad choice at all Izzy. Not a bad choice at all.

Come in and try her picks for yourself — the cafe is open and the cabinet is looking very good today.

It's Friday and you've earned something good this weekend.

Whether that's a home cooked dinner, a cheese board on the couch, eating strawberries straight from the punnet in the car on the way home, we are not here to judge any of those choices.

We fully support all of them.

What's the plan this weekend Busselton? Drop it below, we're always curious what this community gets up to when the week is finally done.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone
