The product range grew by popular demand and today all Brookfarm products are made in our own purpose built factory. High quality and attention to detail still lies at the very core of our business. This is a lovely little gluten free snack for any time of day, and you only need three ingredients. Banana, melted chocolate and a really good quality granola – Brookfarm of course!

Our Gluten Free Cacao & Coconut Granola is full of little rice puffs and loads of nuts it's fantastic by itself but also a great crunchy topping for our chocolate and banana bark.

So simple and tasty you will want to make it every week!

Cacao Coconut Granola Banana Bark

INGREDIENTS
(Serves 4 as a snack)
2 large ripe bananas
100g dark chocolate, melted
100g Gluten Free Granola Cacao Coconut

METHOD
– Slice the bananas into 1 cm thick slices and arrange side by side, in a rectangular shape on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
– Pour over the melted chocolate and with a palette knife spread out evenly to completely cover the bananas.
– Sprinkle over the granola and chill in the freezer for a few hours until set.
– Cut into slices with a serrated knife or break off pieces and enjoy.

World Rainforest Day 2024 – The Year of Action

At Brookfarm we are passionate about rainforest and biodiversity protection. Over 35 years ago we took action to regenerate a tiny remnant of Big Scrub rainforest on the family macadamia farm. Now it is a thriving habitat for native wildlife.

We proudly support the Big Scrub Rainforest Conservancy , who are using world-leading scientific approaches to save critically endangered lowland subtropical rainforests in Australia. Their Science Saving Rainforests Program has analysed the genomes of 60 species based on DNA sequencing of over 10,000 leaf samples.

This data will inform the establishment of a new living seed bank plantation in the hinterland of Byron Bay, which aims to restore the genetic diversity needed for these key tree species to survive.

Your help is needed to fund the new plantation site and save our subtropical rainforests.

From Melbourne to Byron Bay... where Brookfarm began.

Did you know that back in the 80s co-founders Pam and Martin Brook lived in Melbourne? Pam was a dentist with her own practice in Kew, and Martin was a TV producer for Grundy’s working on ‘Prisoner’!

Planning a family holiday, they threw a dart at a map which landed in the Northern Rivers. Soon after they bought a run-down w**d infested dairy farm in the area – sight unseen!

Over subsequent years they returned at every opportunity to remove w**ds, plant 4500 Macadamia trees, regenerate a sub-tropical rainforest and eventually move their young family to Byron Bay to start Brookfarm – now run by oldest son Will (who was just 13 when the business first started!)

A lot has happened in just over 30 years!

We Need Bees

We all know that bees make honey (yum!) but did you know how important they are to our food security, biodiversity and ecosystem health?

Bees help pollinate most of the crops we eat and many that feed farm livestock. Nearly two-thirds of Australia’s agricultural production benefits from bee pollination.

It's estimated that 1 out of every 3 mouthfuls of food depends on bees!

Australia is home to around 2,000 species of native bee. On the Brook family farm, we have setup native bee hives to help with pollination of our macadamias and the biodiversity of our rainforest ecosystem.

5 WAYS TO HELP BEES THRIVE:
– Buy Australian Honey
– Plant Flowers to provide vital food sources and habitat
– Avoid using pesticide and fungicide sprays that are harmful to bees
– Make sure water is available, particularly during summer
– Setup a stingless native bee hive

Naturally sweetened with honey and banana, these muffins are light, fluffy and absolutely delicious!
Make with your favourite Brookfarm Toasted Muesli or Granola flavour.
The base recipe is gluten free too, just use our Gluten Free Muesli!

Honey & Banana Muesli Muffins
–––
INGREDIENTS
(Serves 12)
2 ¾ cups Brookfarm Toasted Muesli or Granola (use your favourite)
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 cup Greek yoghurt (or coconut if dairy-free)
4 eggs, lightly beaten
60 ml Premium Macadamia Oil
2 tbsp honey
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 bananas, mashed
1 cup almond flour

METHOD
– Preheat oven to 160°C. Line 12 muffin tins with muffin cups.
– Combine muesli, baking powder, cinnamon, yoghurt, eggs, oil, honey and vanilla in a bowl and soak for 10 minutes.
– Mash bananas and mix through soaked mixture.
– Add almond meal and mix through to form a muffin batter (do not over mix).
– Spoon the mixture into lined muffin tins and sprinkle with a little extra muesli.
– Bake for 35 minutes or until muffins are cooked through (use a skewer to test).
– Cool in muffin tray for 5 minutes, then move muffins to a wire rack to cool completely.

We love the versatility of our Energy Paleo Granola. Not only is it a great way to kickstart your day, it is also the perfect dessert addition to wow a crowd.

Try our Energy Paleo Granola Affogato and let us know if you make it!

INGREDIENTS
(Serves 2)
1 cup of mixed berries
2 large scoops of vanilla ice-cream
2 shots of espresso coffee
1/3 cup Energy Paleo Granola
Optional: splash of liqueur of choice, we are partial to Cape Byron Distillery Mac Liqueur

METHOD
– Divide mixed berries into two serving glasses.
– Add a scoop of ice-cream.
– Pour over a shot of espresso over each ice-cream scoop.
– Optional: Pour over a small splash of Mac Liqueur.
– Sprinkle our Energy Paleo Granola over the top.

We didn't let the wet weather dampen our spirits at this year's Northern Rivers Food Harvest Food Trail! With a slight venue change to the shelter of the Cape Byron Distillery balcony, overlooking the macadamia orchards on the Brook family farm.

CEO Will Brook and Co-Founders Pam and Martin Brook were on hand to chat all things regenerative farming, sustainability, biodiversity and Brookfarm. As the rain cleared, we took a stroll through the Big Scrub rainforest on the property, to see what can be achieved when nature is given space to regenerate.

Free samples were offered across our range, accompanied by a delicious morning tea from Crabbes Creek Catering & Events , ethical organic coffee and tea with Bun Coffee Head Barista Hannie.

The Harvest Food Trail celebrates locals supporting locals, showcasing the incredible food and drink producers here in the Northern Rivers.

A big thank you to Northern Rivers Food for organising such an amazing weekend, and to all of you who joined us – it was a pleasure to host you. 💚

Recipe: Toasted Muesli Peach Cups 🍑

Make for one or feed your family and friends with this easy recipe by Tian Evans Sage Events Byron Bay featuring our Toasted Muesli Macadamia Cranberry.

Ingredients:
½ cup Toasted Muesli Macadamia Cranberry
½ cup coconut yoghurt
1 fresh yellow peach
1 passionfruit
1 tsp h**p seeds
1 pinch pepitas
1 pinch toasted coconut flakes

Method:
– In a stemless wine glass start with Toasted Muesli Macadamia Cranberry.
– Add a layer of coconut yoghurt.
– Cut peach into wedges and stand on end in the yoghurt.
– Halve the passionfruit, scoop out the pulp and drizzle over the yoghurt.
– Top with h**p seeds, pepitas and coconut flakes to serve.
